Re: SanDisk 1TB Extreme Portable SSD Review

Yeah, i'm not sure why an SSD can't go as low as a Flash memory card. It wouldn' t be the NAND Flash, but likely maybe the controller or DRAM cache chip?

SanDisk 1TB Extreme Portable SSD Review

Most of our readers wouldn’t buy or build a new computer today without an SSD inside. SSDs have come a long way over the past decade and once you’d had one you don’t want to go back to rotational media. Portable SSDs are also streaming ahead in the external storage drive market by bringing the break...

Re: Corsair Carbide Spec-Omega Mid-Tower Case Review

Anydvd does have a feature to eliminate the Cinavia watermark when used with CloneBD! correct, but the the audio is downgraded to AC3, not the original audio signal. It ads a little distortion, but not bad. I'd rather leave it though and just use players and TV's that don't support it ;) The Samsun...

Patriot EVLVR 1TB Thunderbolt 3 Portable SSD Review

The first Patriot EVLVR Thunderbolt 3 portable SSD prototype was first revealed at CES 2018 and got some buzz as it is one of only a handful of external SSD solutions aimed at mainstream users that uses the Thunderbolt 3 interface. Thanks to the Thunderbolt 3 interface and internal M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD...

Re: Corsair Carbide Spec-Omega Mid-Tower Case Review

I could see how you would come to the conclusion that I rip discs, but I do not! The hint would be the BD Burners(x2)! With that said, it has been crossing my mind to get away from my old school ways and setup some sort of a NAS/Server. The stacks are starting to get out of hand! Oh my goodness... ...

Re: Intel Optane Memory Tested With Secondary Hard Drive

Again pricing is just so weird as you can buy a regular SSD for cheaper than you can the 64GB module. I could see the 16gb and MAYBE the 32GB ()even though you can get a lower end/lower capacity SSD for around the same price on sale) but after that it seems almost foolish. Ok had a thought.....mayb...

Intel Optane Memory Tested With Secondary Hard Drive

Intel Optane Memory has been around for more than a year, but when it was launched in Q1 2017 it could only be used to accelerate one Windows 10 SATA boot drive and only one module is supported per system. Many in the PC community wanted to accelerate hard disk drives that weren’t the boot drive and...

Re: DDR4 Memory Scaling Performance with Ryzen 7 2700X

How much of a real-world improvement be for higher clock memory? When would a user notice the different? I just purchased 2400 memory, curious if I should return it and buy 3000+. How much is the price difference? If you are building a new Ryzen system and plan on sticking with it for a number of y...

WD Blue 2TB Hard Drive WD20EZRZ Review

Most review sites don’t bother reviewing hard drives these days, but after reviewing 18 different Solid-State Drives in 2018 alone we needed a break. Old school hard drives are still the most cost effective way to store gobs of data and if you aren’t accessing that data often, there is nothing wrong...

DDR4 Memory Scaling Performance with Ryzen 7 2700X

When AMD announced the new Ryzen 2000 Series processors along with the new X470 platform on April 19th, 2018 many might have missed that G.Skill released new Trident Z RGB and Sniper X DDR4 memory kits custom tailored for this platform. We test a kit with the same timings at 2400, 2666, 3000, 3200, ...

Re: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Processor Review – 2nd Gen Ryzen

The technology is there to do it if they wanted, but then how would the sell Epyc processors! Zen 2 will support more cores, so we will see Ryzen 3000 processors with more than 8-cores, 16-threads coming out relatively soon. Also, I expect that there might be a Ryzen 7 2800X processor sitting in the...
