Re: Lapping Guide
Great article! I've been lapping CPUs (though I normally wait thru several months of burn-in testing to do so) for years and reaping the benefits of added cooling for great overclocks. One thing I like to do when lapping is drop a couple drops of dish soap (liquid) onto my moistened sandpaper after ...

Re: Over clocking socket 775
Going for such a mild overclock (3.3GHz on a quad 2.8GHz) shouldn't involve anything more than changing your CPU frequency and probably a very very slight voltage bump. You may also have to adjust your memory multiplier if you don't have OCing RAM. My old i7-860 is in my wife's PC now, but when I us...

Re: Is my Motherboard Temp. too high
Indeed, you need some updated sofware, as a lot of those readings don't make much sense.
Try HWInfo32 and something like Realtemp to be sure they're accurate. If they are, you have some serious cooling issues going on.

I'm most definitely in this one. $5400 would build an amazing rig!

Re: Warmachine 3.0 (i5 2500K build)
A T line is more or less a small reservoir.
It's completely a matter of personal taste -- some people prefer a T-Line for the space it saves, other people prefer a res for the looks. As far as temps/performance, they'll both perform identically.

Re: eVGA GTX 570 Classified vs Zotac GTX 570 AMP!
Well, I've pretty much decided on the eVGA Superclocked GTX 570 as the Classified is no longer in production. I got the feeling off the eVGA forums that the Classified cards are a limited release thing which is a shame as it makes it hard for someone to add a second like GPU in the future for SLI. ...

Re: Brand New i7 980 running very hot???
Cores can also run very different temperatures due to variations in the calibration of the core temperature sensors. Also, even the slightest difference in contact pressure of the HSF on the surface of the CPU can cause temperature differences. If you're concerned about it, try reseating the heatsin...

Re: HELP plz
Stop using Coretemp and switch to RealTemp. It tends to work better.
Also, I've noticed Coretemp tends to glitch a lot if you're running other monitoring software at the same time.

I use strictly EVGA cards in all my rigs, primarily for their durability & excellent warranty service.
