you can see in the second picture how one spot is clean and one is dusty lol, around where the F from Formula is was where the worst of the water hit

so um, i used the drier for like 15min but on both the vid card for like 3-4min and blowing it over never focused on the mobo for like 10min ( not all at one time either @ intervals), so whats the risk? (i was holding it about 2-3feet away from the mobo so it was blowing warm air on the low setting ...

thanks for all the quick replys :), i just took off the vcards hsf and the card itself is dry(took this opportunity to apply arctic silver :D) only a narrow band of the mobo was actually soaked though, i can take a picture for you guys to see, it actually looks pretty dry, but ill use the hair dryer...

yes im sure it was rainwater because the window was open and its been raining like crazy and its not sticky :P, i cleaned up most of the surface water with a napkin, but i think there is water inside the heat sink/fan, the part where the power cable goes into the mobo wasnt wet at all, the only part...

Long story short, my computer was shutdown and the power cable was still in, but the power supply was not turned off, and i was away last night, and i came home to find half my motherboard and video card covered in rainwater(but the cpu/hard drive/power supply/ram were dry), is there any hope of sav...

i heard the new lower end c2ds can't oc as well, if this is true just get a e6300 or q6600 with a good aircooler the total should be ~150 for e6300

I guess its because my fan broke and im using the 120mm fan that came with it instead of the scythe, but the weird thing is... when i first installed it, the temps were in the mid-high 30s not mid to high 40s?

okay well i got it back, the temps seem kinda high though, 46-48C idle? Should i try to refit it? with thermalright 120 extreme with 120mm fan

isn't ati releasing a refresh this month? if the supposed benches are correct than the 4870(single) would blow the gx2 out of the water...(which seems unlikely?)but it may be worth the wait

so i guess ill just return the ram as well to get that out of the way, the smell didnt seem like it was coming from the whole board but more from the bottom end of it towards the gfx card area,guess this should be a good learning experience lol,q6600+3870=300-400 ish worst case scenario... hopefully...

So only the motherboard would be killed not any of the other parts? well i packed up the mobo and will be returning it tomorrow,,, and still got warrenty on ram, psu seems fine, dunno about video card or cpu though, guess it wouldnt cost that much to get a q6600/3870 if they are burned out, on a bri...

well dont be so glad lol i think i fried my system :-(... well as i was installing the new hsf my the mobo was kind of resting ontop of the case pin things but not locked into its normal position, and the extreme 120 fan set up was pretty odd so i decided to see which way the fan blows air before i ...

i think on a sub conscious level i knew summer was coming and I wouldn't be able to sustain the same oc with the same cooler, so maybe i "let" it break so i would have an excuse to buy a new one :O

Whew, well heres the story(two parts)my comp is on its side with the case open, so somehow my earphone wire gets stuck into cpu fan, and it stops and then someone knocks @ the door so i go to open it(somehow completely forgetting about the cpu thing) i come back 15min later to see that its almost on...
