Re: MyDigitalSSD M2X Portable SSD M.2 USB 3.1 External Enclosure Review

How on earth were you able to slide the drive, with attached thermal interface material, into the case?

I've found that impossible if I want the interface material to be utilized. Double sided sticky and sliding don't mix.

It's not gotten annoying enough to make me pick up the phone, which is really dumb. I should have left the stuff alone.

Re: So I just ran speedtest at school.....

Well, my additional performance didn't come without a cost. I went from rock solid broadband to much faster, but not quite so solid.. All that really happened is that they replaced my older SMC Networks device with a new one and performed the re-provision magic. Now I lose my ability to access the i...

Re: Budget Gaming PC

I have that CPU and the same video card in EVGA form for my HTPC if you have any benchmark requests or such before you get too far down the road. If you are trying to emphasize quiet and cool then I get the GPU choice. Otherwise, I'd be tempted to push for more GPU since you have a "real" ...

I had the Ethernet cable running thru a CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD, and i...

Re: So I just ran speedtest at school.....

St. Louis is a test market for new Charter services, so we get to try things out ahead of other regions. I'm not sure about the specifics when it comes to their bundles for home and business, but I'm sure someone can help you out. I highly suggest going to a local charter office and asking for help...

Re: ASUS Z97 question

I'm not sure what changed, but the next time I bigoted, it paused at the ASUS screen and I entered BIOS normally. After some tweaks it's behaving well.

Re: Pentium G3258 and 4790k overclocking

Thread title tweaked.

What's the safe voltage for 4790k assuming temps are under control? I need to spend more time with it, but I used the ASUS auto tool as a baseline and it set for 1.35V. Temps seem fine at 4.7GHz.

Re: So I just ran speedtest at school.....

The 80Mbps Charter Business plan in St. Louis is now 150Mbps, so you aren't getting the proper speeds. Check this - http://www.legitreviews.com/charter-business-internet-speeds-increase-200-mbps-st-louis_148190 What I get at home for $29.99 a month: Is that business or normal, also is it a bundled ...

ASUS Z97 question

This needs to go in a dumb question thread, but I can't figure it out so.. I've set long post timers and such in the BIOS of my new ASUS Z97 board, but no matter what I do and/or press (F1, Delete, etc) the PC boots without giving me the opportunity to enter BIOS for tweaks. I've restarted, I've col...

Re: So I just ran speedtest at school.....

It ended up about the same. It's academic really, since I'm not going to perceive much benefit unless they boost my upload. The main reason I had the plan to begin with was the "fast" uploads. Thanks though! I definitely need to call and see if I can get the price worked down a bit, even i...

Re: So I just ran speedtest at school.....

While out and about yesterday, I heard a radio commercial that said Charter Business internet was now 100Mb/s across the board in my area. Since I had the 80Mb/s plan, I tried a quick power cycle on the cable modem. http://www.speedtest.net/result/3674981998.png Not a bad improvement. I suspect if I...

Re: So I just ran speedtest at school.....

^^^ LIKE!!! ^^^ I just read in the paper that Charter is supposed to upgrade the St Louis internet market to 100Mbs from 30Mbs for no additional charge, we'll see if that really happens. I know when they upgraded all cable services to digital (thus needing to rent a box even if you were on standard...

Re: Ridiculous ASUS Thunderbolt stuffs

And so it ends.. Thanks again for the assistance. Ironically, it was shipped to me by their e-store. On the phone they were adamant that they didn't have any of these and could not send me one. ](*,) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2089470/ASUS%2014003-00380000.jpg ASUS 14003-00380000.jpg

I'd never heard of them, but Google hooked us up. The owner (John) was very responsive, aside from actual results. There probably wasn't a lot he could do.

Re: Ridiculous ASUS Thunderbolt stuffs

I definitely bought mine from a US based retailer, though small. They seem to be concerned and they are talking to "their distributor", who is talking to ASUS.. That being said it hasn't resulted in any helpful action. What I have on hand would definitely seem to be intended for North Amer...

Re: Ridiculous ASUS Thunderbolt stuffs

I appreciate the assistance. It is indeed absurd, but it is in line with my recent PC building experiences. My first ASUS motherboard was DOA and had to be swapped out. I bought a pair of MSI Gaming 280's to tide me over till new GPUs, and one of them artifacts like crazy. Waiting for that RMA. It s...

Ridiculous ASUS Thunderbolt stuffs

I picked up an ASUS Z97 board that's advertised as being compatible with their Thunderbolt EX II add-in card. Since I actually need Thunderbolt, I also nabbed one of those after searching the world over. The card arrived today and ASUS has completely botched this. The card comes with a 9 pin cable t...
