Re: 8800 Shader Overclocking
I have been running ATi Tool for nearly an hour at 650/1700/950 with no errors, Everest actually reports the Shader at 1674, if i go higher than 1700 it will report it as 1728, there is no in between for some reason. http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/4082/13272535tx9.jpg Would you say its stable an...

Re: 8800 Shader Overclocking
I don't have Call of Duty 4, i do have Medal of Honour - Airborne as well as Crysis. so i suppose i could use those games. I have played Crysis for a few hours with no problems so hopefully it's stable.
Thanks for the replies.

Re: 8800 Shader Overclocking
Well i set the Shader to 1500 and let it scan for an hour, then i set the Core to 650, the RAM to 950 and kept the Shader at 1500 and ran it for an hour with no errors. Would you say that's stable enough?

Re: 8800 Shader Overclocking
Yea i know i can use Riva Tuner to monitor the temperatures, i use the OSD to keep any eye on everything but i'm not sure what reading would be relevant to the Shader clocks, which one is it? I know i can use ATi Tool to check for artifacts but i am still unsure about how to test for stability when ...

I'll give it a shot, but i probably won't get the required posts, but i'll see what i can contribute too and maybe i'll qualify.
God knows i could use a decent PSU.

8800 Shader Overclocking
Hello, i haven't been around for a while, but in the mean time i have got myself an 8800GTS about 6 weeks ago (i know i should have held out for an 8800GT but i didn't know it would be out so soon, it's an EVGA by the way so i will Step Up to the G92 8800GTS) , anyway i was wondering about overclock...

Re: New AMDs and heatsinks
It's obviously not a 775 CPU, but it might well be a 939 CPU. You should use CPU-z and find out for sure, for all the time it will take (2 minutes). You say you have a 3200, i didn't know they made 3200's for AM2, it seems they do but they are far more common on the 939 platform. Use CPU-z or PC Wiz...

Re: Hidden Object, Rootkit
I tried using both the AVG Anti-Rootkit and that Sysinternals utility which is kind of difficult to use (at least i am not sure what the results are). The AVG Anti-Rootkit did detect something and deleted it, i am unsure if it was related to this wscphost thing which still doesn't give any results o...

Re: Hidden Object, Rootkit
As it happens, the PC already had AVG Free Edition on it, but i took it off and put Kaspersky on.
I see there is a specific Anti-RootKit program here, so i think i'll try it.
Thanks for that.

Hidden Object, Rootkit
A friend of mine gave me his Fujitsu Siemens SCALEO P to sort out because it was badly infected. i installed Kaspersky AV and ran a full system scan, it found 26 threats, 9 of which were Trojans and 1 was a 'Virus Package' (whatever that means), the rest were Ad/Spyware. I then installed and ran Spy...

Re: asus a8nsli deluxe
A Dual GPU standard would have been pretty cool, like a lot of things in a PC; SATA, RAM, PCI etc. Aside from the obvious marketing, i imagine the chipsets would play a large part in Crossfire and SLI. For the original poster, i would say get an NVIDIA card if your buying a new one, may as well at l...

Re: IDE Hard Drive Noise
I tried to record it with my old mic but there's nothing really to hear, the frequency must be too low for the mic to pick up. I even disconnected all my case fans, lowered my Zalman 9500 to the lowest RPM, so it was pretty quiet (for a change), but still you can't hear anything on the recording. I ...

IDE Hard Drive Noise
I recently contacted Seagate because i have this annoying low frequency buzzing coming from my hard drive, i wrote them a support ticket so i'll just paste some of it so i don't have to type it all out again.... I recently got a new SATA hard drive and took out my Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 6Y080L0 ID...

Re: 3.0ghz Phenom and triple crossfire spotted over at Hard[OCP]
I saw that earlier, i couldn't see all 3 cards with bridges but The Inquirer said "WE THOUGHT the third was software and said that in the original. All three GPUs are connected with a bridge. Sorry." So perhaps they got their information wrong (wouldn't be the first time) so they corrected...

Re: Infected plz help
I have heard good things about NOD32 and i have Kaspersky myself, sometimes you can locate and manually delete the files using your Anti Virus. I remember having to do that myself with Norton, which is now not only bloat ware, but a pure resource hog.

I entered it as well, i tried last time too but couldn't find all 10, but i am eligible this time. That said, personally all i want is a video card or maybe one of those nice full systems, dinner with some NVIDIA head honcho isn't my idea of a good night out, unless there is lots of malt whiskey on ...

Re: 7600GT vs 8500GT
I wouldn't gte either of them, both are crippled with a 128 bit Memory Bus. The 7600GT is fine for fairly recent games, but it will struggle with newer ones. The 8500GT has DX10 but it will be far too weak to take advantage of it anyway, and for DX9, well the 7600GT would beat it no bother. Either g...

Re: Gigabyte K8NSNXP-939 + Opteron 185 // Possible?
The Opteron 185 doesn't have much overclocking head room anyway, at least that's what i have gathered from the people i have seen with 185's.
A good Opteron 165 with CCBBE stepping would probably get higher clocks than an a 185.

Re: July 2007 Forum Drawing - 750W PC Power & Cooling PSU
I'll give it a shot as well, my Hiper 580W looks rather weak these days, so a nice PSU like that would do me nicely.
Nice one for brining us a new contest, however late in the month, i don't think any of us would care .
