Re: No budget multimedia/gaming rig build.

3 or more drives in RAID 0 will increase performance.
2 isn't much better than 1.

Re: Acer MOBO

Unless you can get the EXACT same board, you're likely going to have to reinstall Windows. If you can get almost the same board, you MIGHT be able to get away with only having to reactivate the current install of Windows. I dunno about the Acer, but some manufacturer's cases even have proprietary MO...

Re: Windows 7 Secondary drive cannot boot

I don't think you can do what you're describing.
The boot loader that Win7 uses is located on the HDD where your initial Windows install resides.
Even though Win7 is on the 2nd drive, "part" of it is on the 1st.
Take it out, and you're removing the boot loader.

Re: Backing up a Laptop HD Question

I think you'll have to go into the advanced properties of the directory and take ownership. I've done this before, and when I installed the drive back into the original machine, I had to go in and "re-take" ownership to make it work. You run the risk of screwing up the permissions ... but ...

Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe & SAS

When I and if get the ASUS P6T Deluxe, can and or should I plug my SATA HDD's to the SAS ports? is there any advantage in connecting SATA to SAS. Will i be able to set up RAID 0 using the SAS ports? Don't know of any reason why you'd hook them to the SAS ports. I'm running Raptors in RAID 0 on the ...

Re: Monitor wont go off in windows

There was a Windows update that had to be installed before mine would shut off.
I can't find exactly which one it was, but it had something to do with USB or a Human Interface Device.

Re: Startup Issue - Blinking Power LED

My vote is the CPU.

2 reasons ..
1) In light of your last post
2) Sounds like the board itself is alive because it's still smart enough to power the fans and give a blinking light.

Looks like there might be a newer BIOS that you're currently running.
Might wanna give that a try.

Re: Windows 7 & XP MBR Issue - HELP!

There is a boot tab in the "msconfig" applet of Vista where you can set several different options for booting.
Maybe 7 has the same tab?
Might be easier than trying to figure out how to use BCDEDIT.

Reconfigured my setup to run Vista64 w/the Raptors in RAID 0 on the Intel controller. (Didn't install XP at all this time.) I have the SAS drive as D: with games installed to it. No testing, or timing done, but it "feels" like Vista is faster to respond. I can tell you it boots a bit faste...
