Re: Summer on it's way

yeah, the humidity will ramp up over the next few weeks here and stick around through August mid September. When AC is acting up I am thankful for the whole house attic fan. Crack a couple windows and kick on the fan, puts the whole house into a vacuum and cools things down. Vid of old school versio...

Re: What a steal!

Solidigm is legit drives, supposed to have the same wear level the Intel Optane drives did. I grabbed a bunch of 1tb Optane when Intel had their fire sale. I use them as meta data drives for my TrueNAS server. I'm eyeing up Solidigm drives for my next rig for the "bulk" storage drives. Mic...

Re: my new "router"

One question, how many devices do you have hardwired in? For the house side, IP cameras, my desktop, Synology DS1515+ 5 bay NAS, a DIY TrueNAS Scale box based on Ryzen 5 3600 for hosting dockers and NAS duties, the TP-Link Access Point. Most of it in a 12U 4 post rack, my 3D printer sets on top of ...

Re: Curiosity

For some scale, Nebraska is just slightly smaller than the UK. Michigan is closest to same size. Population wise, Nebraska around 24 people per square mile, UK is over 700 per square mile. The big companies don't care about updating rural spaces. Not enough people per mile to be "worth it"

Re: Curiosity

according to this seems it stems from the Sprint way of doing opposite of everyone back in the day. T-Mobile hasn't got around to fixing low-pop Nebraska.

Re: Windows 11....?

as Arm/RISC-V become the norm in servers, x86 will go way of the dodo eventually. Things will have to get rebuilt as it trickles down to general usage.

Apple has already started with the M1/M2.

With neon production halved by Ukraine stopping their production, chip prices wont drop anytime soon.

Throw inflation in there its getting a bit nuts.

Re: Corsair 4000D Airflow...

my current case is the 5000D Airflow. I dumped the massive watercooling setup I had in a Core x2 after my pump died and couldn't find another D2 at a reasonable price (thanks covid). Dropped back to some spare air cooling I had in the junk drawer. I like the case, it has room for me to go back to wa...
