Re: AOC G2460VQ6 Dying?

clicking noise sounds like a power issue that had on a Samsung monitor. The checkering sounds like a driver issue I had with an AMD APU.

I'd hit up the manufacturer see what they say, under a year should be able to RMA it.

Re: Fast Mobile Charging Motherboard

Check the model number of your phone. If it supports Qualcomm quick charge 2.0 you are good to go.

Re: Fast Mobile Charging Motherboard

Could have sworn I replied to this once... anyhoo... Normal USB charging is something like 5v at 0.5amps, and fast charging is up to 12v at 3amps. If the device is setup for the fast charge, the charge circuit in the device is setup with a battery that can handle the faster charge rate.... unless yo...

Re: AM4?

I have a bad taste left from all the crap I went through with several A6 and A10 builds.

Maybe after they are out a year or so and I can see how the reliability is, I might consider them for shop PCs, but office and home is all Intel.

Re: Gigabyte Brix Gaming UHD Mini-PC Review

The driver disk is the one that gets me on stuff anymore. Most systems don't run optical drives, yet dam near everything comes with a disk. My favorite ones are the things that don't come with anything just a note that says to download the newest driver from their site. Sucks if you don't have a way...

from the sound of it its time to drain and clean the loop. The discoloration in the tube and "floaty" bits are buildup in the loop. Could be there was something not clean when the loop was filled, combined with plasticizer leaching from the tubing, throw in UV light and things can grow in ...

Re: GTX 1070 - no display

Borrow fingernail polish from a lady friend and coat the end of all the standoffs. Take care to keep it off the threads.

Works like the old school fiber washers that used to come with cases.

Re: GTX 1070 - no display

If its all in the case still, screw it down, and unhook the power/reset button wires. Try and start the system up by briefly bridging the power switch pins with a small screw driver/metal pin/paper clip... if it fires up, its in the case switches. Still no dice. Setup everything out of the case, I l...

Re: GTX 1070 - no display

If its not booting with the card in, could be something in the board or just a DOA card.

Do you have another system that you can try the new card in?

Re: Win10 trying to install driver for old hardware

Because outside of a very short list of OEM's, M$ said Win 7 would not be patched to play well with Skylake CPUs and beyond. Kaby Lake will be Win10 only. I also needed to start using Win10 so by the time I have to deploy it at work (3ish years form now if I'm lucky) I will know it inside and out. B...

That was my first go to. The Windows updater wont let go of it.

I really hate that M$ blocks access to update control. Getting annoying for sure.

I play with Linux on my Raspberry PI's, other than that, too much software I need is not on Linux yet, not with out running virtual machines, and that, well, defeats the purpose. Until I can get all my CAD and Photo/Video software running on Linux (Looking at you Autodesk and Adobe) then I'm stickin...

Re: Thoughts on replacing internal bluray or getting external

Yup, run the stock "normal" profile. Good all around file size for all devices. That and I don't have a massive TV so the files look fine. Hell 95% of the time its running on a second monitor while I work on main monitor. Daughter watches everything on her tablet, the boy on his TV/PC/Phon...

Re: Thoughts on replacing internal bluray or getting external

Doubt 2.0 will be fast enough. If you use Cyberlink for your burning software you would get the "haven't received a response from the drive blah blah blah" error, still burns, but takes for dam ever. as for conversion.. I rip everything with AnyDVD to the disk, then convert with Handbrake ...
