Thanks for getting back to me on this! (The reason I love LR.)
Not aware of any third party 5 volts x 3 amperes power supplies, so finding a replacement might be difficult.

Re: ECS LIVA Mini PC Kit Review
Not a bid little system. I don't get the ability to run off of a battery pack though. You'll still need power to drive a monitor to see what you're working on. Maybe true for Windows, but if you're running Linux you could have a service running on there that others can connect to and no need for a ...

Re: ECS LIVA Mini PC Kit Review
Interesting.
Can you provide either a close up picture of the sticker on the power brick or provide the specifications listed? I'm assuming 5v DC output as it's a USB connector, but how many watts is it rated for?
Thanks!

Re: Vantec NexStar HDD Duplicator Review
Thanks for the review!
I read the manual, and it says that this doesn't work with 4K sector drives. Did you try any 4k sector drives? And do you know if this applies to only the docking mode (which is how it seems to me) or if it's a cloning limitation as well?

Re: Intel NUC Kit D54250WYK Review
FYI: The "Mickey Mouse" connector is actually the IEC 60320 C5 (or IEC320 C5 for short) coupler. Thanks for the review. I'm considering this for a near-future build. My only gripe, along with one of yours, is no space for a 2.5" drive. I got a few laying around that would work great a...

Pretty disappointing to anyone who isn't running servers. Too bad Intel gives their "enthusiasts" whom are willing to spend more money older technology than their counterparts. I don't know about you, but that sounds like a bad idea.

Thanks for the review, was thinking about getting this but can clearly see it won't do squat in my phone. Btw, you should try testing these out in a camera with burst mode to see where/when you hit the burst limit.

That's not mini-ITX, it's mini-ATX; big difference (pun intended).

Re: Vantec NexStar WiFi Hard Drive Dock Review
What's this tethering feature they mention and how does it work? The video made it sound like the dock is functioning as an AP so you have to switch between your existing, internet-connected AP and this one. Do they mean that the dock connects to my existing AP and then anything already connected ca...

Nice to see you stepping up the game for your PSU reviews with better voltage and ripple measurements.
Can I suggest adding a 110% load measurement to see how the PSU deals with overload situations? Some just die (i.e., shut off) while others will still run without issues.

I love the idea!
Perhaps if you dropped the magnet onto you HDD, but then again I'd be skeptical that the magnet would be strong enough even in direct contact.Oatmeal wrote:How do they affect mechanical hard drives?

Thanks for the quick review, just ordered one. I hope it doesn't crap out in a few months like Major_A mentioned.

Thanks for the review. I was worried this wouldn't hold up to the UHS-1 standard, but it sure looks like they do well. And thanks for the heads up on the issue with that card reader you tried, as well as suggesting the GoLite.

Thanks for the review. I'll consider this for relatives with slow PCs who are unwilling to reinstall everything or unwilling to manage where they store files. One thing that we also realized is that Corsair gives no mention of having to update this drive or how to perform an update on their website ...
