Re: Starting up with GF6200
Card being too powerful? How can that be? Too much memory or too high data bandwidth? There are cases when a new card doesnt support an old method of doing stuff (in my case the card didnt possess the function allowing the bios to use a certain colour scheme and crashed with garbled colours or none...

Re: Memory Allocation and Drivers between OS's
Thanks. I tried going the xp64 route, had to slipstream intel raid drivers onto the disk to get past a really annoying 0x0000007B error. I Eventually got it working (had to remove extra hdd to prevent it installing the boot loader onto it) and ive found most drivers. New Toshiba laptops dont officia...

Re: Intel D975XBX2 failed to boot, please help!!
That CPU will work with that Mobo; HOWEVER: Not with more than 2 sticks of 800mhz ddr2 ram. (i got 2gb working) And even then its stretching it, you have to get the settings right by trial and error, and you might want a spare stick of 667mhz ram to boot when your trail turns to error. Read this thr...

I dont think the Bad Axe 2 does SLi, (I think only crossfire).seungklee wrote:Intel D975XBX2 or Bad Axe 2
When 2 of the PCIE (x16) slots become occupied they both drop to 8x.
You should get confirmation on this though.

Re: Alienware M5550 GPU Upgrade (nVidia 7600 GO)
OK, the problems resurfaced so my initial idea was wrong.
I again opened it up and cleared it, the "moisture" i think now might have been "thermal oil" on the sponge.
So, looks like I have to get an MXM card afterall, where do i look?

Re: Starting up with GF6200
my old x1800XL was too powerfull for the motherboard i had at the time. I had that problem with every boot. So what i had to do was wipe the cmos (either by removing the battery or by touching jumpers). Then it would start but give an error, the error would just say "no cmos" and it would ...

Re: Alienware M5550 GPU Upgrade (nVidia 7600 GO)
I washed the blue rubbery thermal bridges in warm soapy water, didnt touch the spongey one on the gpu. Put it back on, laptop works perfectly, no GPU problems. Was just moisture under the sponge, when i wiped it away it stop malfunctioning. Still dont know what these things are called, apparently th...

Ive replaced the blue sponge with some thermal paste.
It seems to be getting hotter now.
Is there anywhere i can buy a new sponge?

Re: Alienware M5550 GPU Upgrade (nVidia 7600 GO)
Ok, by now im pretty sure its a MXM I THINK its an MXM-II because its a 256Mb card. Bottle cap Added as size reference. When i buy a new card for the laptop, will its just come with the GPU which goes into the MXM, or the entire MXM module thingy? One more thing, that little blue spongey thingy... I...

Alienware M5550 GPU Upgrade (nVidia 7600 GO)
Hi, my laptop is wrecked. The graphics card (as far as i can tell) is retarded. I need to replace it with either a equal or better card, but first i need some info on laptop cards. What (if any) is the name for the form factor that they come in? Mine is about the size of a cream cracker (or floppy d...

Yes thanks! I noticed my laptop doing the same thing so i got less worried.
Computer is still going fine, its been running nonstop (with the occasional reset) since it got it working.
I didnt mail intel back since, if anyone has anything they want me to say on the subject ill add it.

Did you try it with one? I had a similar problem, one stick worked, any more and it wouldnt post. When i got into the bios i messed about and got it to take 2 sticks. Its just a lot of trying and testing.bullet wrote: I tried with 2 ram slots filled and with 4. Either way, no beeps, no nothing.

Re: D975BX2 now says 1066 FSB 0n there web site..?
I know this thread is a bit old, but i will add what i know anyway. It seems that you must put the settings in first. Either by putting the old cpu in with the 800mhz ram, or with the new cpu and slower ram. I have had the exact same problem, After swapping out the CPU 6-7 times, it works. But if yo...

Re: Intel Bad Axe II and E6850 (1333mhz on 975XBX2)
I ran Everest Ultimate Enginneering Edition; The temperatures on the left seem fine, well below any bad levels (correct me if im wrong). However the DIMM temp is higher then i would have expected (But 40-50 degrees seems to be the ambient temperature of my case). Under Chipset Properties, it says 5-...

Cool, thanks. I cant stick it to 333 with 2 dimms, it wont post. 1 dimm is fine, but i cant do much with 1GB ram. it seems fine the way it is :) I still cant understand how the bios says its 667Mhz and its actually 833.3Mhz! My computers cooler than ever, seeing as i went from a P4 to a E6850 its re...
