Re: EVGA Classified Super Record 2 SR-2 Motherboard Review

Vince (Kingpin) and Gautam smashed the 3DMark Vantage Performance record with 70k. That board is a beast :)

Re: Zotac GeForce GTX 470 Video Card Review

yup... I'm going to lock this thread as all that can be said has been, the card is no longer in our possession and the author has quit. Just a closing note on this entire debacle. When I started doing this I told myself I'd stop reviewing when it was no longer fun. Having graduated from college at ...

Re: Zotac GeForce GTX 470 Video Card Review

Very embarrassing for Legit Reviews and Nvidia. It looks as if LR has sold it's soul to the devil, who ever it was at LR who thought that trading their credibility with Nv was a good idea... is in for a bit of a shock! MANY other forum members are grabbing their sick buckets, and adding LR to their...

Re: Zotac GeForce GTX 470 Video Card Review

So, before I get into each individual comment I'd like to make a few blanket statements. 1) We all know the performance of the HD 5870 vs GTX 470. This card launched a month or so back, every review site on the planet posted a review, and they all used the 197 drivers that were available at the time...

Re: G.Skill DDR3-1600 CL7 6GB PI Series DDR3 Memory Kit Review

The more budget kits I play with the more I notice that there isn't much point to overclocking them unless you maintain the factory timings. Anytime you loosen them up you add more latency than the additional bandwidth can offset. This kit is a great example of that. Far better to use it at stock sp...

as a GSkill RAM user myself, one would be amazed at the sight and feel of the polished aluminum heatspreaders pictures definitely do not do justice Yup :( They really are a beautiful set of sticks and my camera just doesn't capture them correctly. G.Skill has some unique heatspreaders, I dig them.

Re: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T and 1055T Six-Core Processor Review

Thanks for the feedback! TigerDirect is doing a $50 rebate on Phenom II X6 processors so you can get the 1090T for $250 and the 1055T for $150 from 4/27 to 4/30, which is a great deal. As for motherboards... I have 890FX boards here, but they are honestly no different than 890GX boards other than t...

Power consumption on these chips is surprisingly low. A shame Thuban didn't come out a year ago to compete with i7 920. AMD is looking pretty good right now, hopefully Intel delays mainstream 32nm quad/hex-core CPUs a bit more for AMD's sake :)

Re: ASUS 3x3 Overclocking Summit - ROG Experience Tour

I only really know PURE's numbers and they weren't very good compared to what we normally produce. I fought with the P55 rig for hours until one of the threads disappeared and the chip started to scale. I had CPU-Z shots around 6.5GHz but I think only a validation around 6.4GHz. Super Pi 32M was run...

From my understanding of the PCIe layout that PCIe x4 is split with the NEC USB3.0 and JMicron SATA6 chips through the ICH10R. So in short, yes.

Re: ASUS Maximus III Extreme LGA 1156 Motherboard Review

I had to reset the CMOS once and that was when I forgot to change the BIOS from my cascade settings(25x220, 1.65vcpu) and tried to boot on air. The board would keep trying to POST and get stuck on Check CPU. Otherwise in the last 3-4 weeks I've been playing with the board I have never had to reset t...

Re: Sapphire Radeon HD 5850 Toxic 1GB Video Card Review

The issue you are experiencing I believe was due to the GDDR5 clockspeeds and the card switching from 2D to low 3D and back again. I remember reading about this, screen flicker with GDDR5 cards, I think the solution, as you discovered, was keeping the GDDR5 at one speed with had the penalty of highe...

Re: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 GF100 DX11 Video Card Review

I've got mixed feelings on this card. The performance right now isn't where I would have expected it to be but you have to admit the HD5870 is a pretty kickass card and those 10.3 drivers surely didn't help the GTX480 in the benchmarks :) That being said I think drivers will help improve the perform...

Had a short exchange with Zotac and it isn't good. This card will be sold solely on mainland China, so no chance of a sale in North America and no point in attempting to review it. Oh well, on to the next toy I can find :)

Royally cracks me up to see newegg paired this AMD case with Intel processors as their bundle offerings! Epic Fail! LOL  I noticed that too. Someone in Sales and Marketing will probably be getting a call real soon. I bet someone in sales/marketing did this on purpose for the lulz. lulz2.jpg

Re: Intel Core i7-980X Six-Core Processor Extreme Edition Review

This is my own speculation so take it with less than a grain of salt... If Intel is touting the new 6 core CPU my guess is future CPUs on the top end will have 6 cores. Most things they implement into the EE CPUs become standard in their high end products the next cycle. Examples: Hyper Threading, ...

Wow, a standard ECS motherboard that can overclock more than 5%, I'm amazed. Looks liek ECS is starting to do something right for once. They've actually been not too shabby since the P45 I played with. Typically they don't hit as high of frequencies and with my snob Liquid Nitrogen or Bust attitude...

Yup but 55nm instead of 65nm and single PCB instead of dual PCB. Should be insanely cheaper too :)
