Re: OC'ing My PII X3 720BE Again......

With my usual impatience, I stopped the prime run at 8+ hours and will keep my fingers crossed! Does anyone really know what ACC does??? Just for S & Gs I played with it to see if there was a remote chance of unlocking the 4th core. I had made the attempt in another system with a 720 and w...

Re: PII X4 945 - Started OC'ing It!

Hokay, so you Flashed the BIOS and it worked? I will try that myself. You're saying you did all the clocks through the BIOS rather than AMD Overdrive or such? While it takes more time I like doing most through the bios. Early on when I had the voltage issues I used Biostar's utility through XP. Whe...

Re: PII X4 945 - Started OC'ing It!

Nice. Is this with stock cooling? When you say it didn't 'stick' do you mean that you had to reapply the OC every time you boot? If you do, I seem to have the same problem. Any solution to this? As far as the "stick" thing....what would happen is I would set a new value in the bios to inc...

Re: Setting Up a 2TB Caviar Green

Installed the WD2000CSRTL 2TB drive in the system with basically 1 x 1TB and 2 x 500GB partitions. This HDD has the "mechanical" jumper to regress to 150. Owner took it home today quit happy.......yesterday was a big b#@*h as his 80GB primary was swapped out for a 160 ( set 2 x 80) and was...

Setting Up a 2TB Caviar Green

Getting ready to install a WD2000CSRTL 2TB drive in an older system (SKT A!) and was wondering what conciderations are necessary besides how many partitions he would want. Have already set the jumper for 150. The sytem is as follows Enermax EG465P-VEFCA 450W ABIT NF7-S rev2 - Sempron 3000+ w/ Swifte...

Re: OC'ing My PII X3 720BE Again......

Somewhere Around December 29th Another side note, I have re-flashed at least 10 times now as this keeps cropping up and have been real happy that the CMOS jumper is easy to get to. Under S & Gs mode and max vcore (1.6v) I did manage to get the system to boot at 17 x 221 = 3.756GHz http://valid....

OC'ing My PII X3 720BE Again......

Mid December, 2009 I have a water cooled mATX system (DreamCatcher v3.5) that I'd gotten the itch to “play” with again, so lets get started (warning I tend to ramble!)…………. The hardware set up is as follows: CASE: SilverStone SOG1 PSU: Enermax MODU82+ MOBO: Biostar TA760G AM2+ CPU: AMD PII X3 720BE...

Re: PII X4 945.......

Thought I’d bring everyone somewhat up to date on this. While fun to play with I have had to get used to doing it the “old way” as I’ve been spoiled by my last four cpus as they were BEs. Initially had major issues with the mobo bios in the fact none of the voltage settings would “stick” and ended u...

PII X4 945 - Started OC'ing It!

To the point of ruining domestic tranquility, I bit on a promo from the 'egg's cyber Monday. Picked up a Biostar TA790GXE uATX and a "AMD Phenom II X4 945 Deneb 3.0GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Processor".

Anyone done any playing with one of those?

Re: which system is better??

Thanks for the info guys.....didn't mean to steal this thread!! If I can swing it (meaning getting past the wife! :axe: ) I'm looking at a combo from the egg using a Biostar 790GXE mATX that is just one step below my 790GXE XE. At least I somewhat understand the bios layout on them.

Re: The Amazing Resiliency of Kids

The good Lord decided that children weren't in the grand plan for us but have enjoyed watching and play with family & friends' little one. Yes they never cease to amaze me what they can take and I think part of the response is "parential education" as how to react to things. So you and...

1. The OCZ........ :prayer: they were great!! Guess it pays doing it through their forum as it seemed to make getting the RMA painless and shipped on Friday the 6th. "Officially" received it on the 10th and exchanged for replacement the SAME DAY !!! Left the factory on the 11th (ups) and ...

2 x 1 for 4GB or 4 x 1 for 4GB > Your Experience(s)

Currently thinking of "up grading" to a PII X4 from either 7750BE(past) or 8750BE(present) and giving SMP(VMWare) a try along with GPU folding. Currently I have a set of F2-8500CL5D-2GBPK (2 x 1 = 2GB) and would like to go with 4GB. So was wondering what y'all experiences have been with ov...
