Borked BIOS Chip??

MSI NF750-G55 / PII X4 945 / F3-12800CL8D-4GBTD Was running at stock and default, tried some very mild oc'ing (no where near where I had the 945 in Biostar 790) and it would BSOD so was manipulating various settings in bios. Will now boot up & access bios.....but when I go to load windows just g...

Re: DreamCatcher AM3 - THE LAST VERSION!

Well in the “Can’t leave well enough alone” department just had another wild hair…….. seems I have the 150GB Raptor X “left over” from the old Kermit build. Happen to think it might be neat to cut a window in the “custom window” cover that is floating around so one could see the HDD as it is mounted...

Re: 1055T Overclocking Log

I'd give you a thumbs up, but the system at work looks to have dropped a lot of the smilelies!! Tried playing with mine but looks like a OS re-install and bios flash is going to be required for me. :( So have backed off until the 300 V'Raptor gets here next week for the primary drive. Will...

Re: As Yet to be Named Build..........

On another note, for S & Gs I decided to take a look at the HSF for the build. It is a Zalman CNPS9900-NT, which is the latest incarnation of HSF started with the 9500 series. The big difference here is instead of a fan in a large finned cooler the fan is placed between to sets of circular fins....

Re: As Yet to be Named Build..........

In my usual rush I did the paint job and despite the humidity it didn’t do all that bad. It seems Krylon not only makes a gloss and flat black but also one called “Satin”. Guess that would be their name for Semi-Gloss????? Anyway the color looks good but the cutout was rougher than I thought….just h...

Re: As Yet to be Named Build..........

As it turns out I diddled around and eventually went back out to the garage to finish…….bad idea! The drill was up to it but the hole saw wasn’t, cheap (not inexpensive) is – cheap what you get. The drill bit in the mandrel had gotten so loose and the cutting ability of the hole saw so poor that the...

MSI NF980 - G65 & Analog KVM

Here is a question for those that are “intimately” familiar with MSI motherboards. DC AM3 and Oz1a share kb, mouse, and monitor through a Linksys analog KVM. With exception of the two Abit NViews I had there haven’t been any issues ‘til now. When I initially hooked up the MSI 785GM-E65, there weren’...

Easy, Inexpensive, & "Realistic" PSU Testing

Greetings y'all! Looking for suggestions for a decent methodology for testing power supplies that covers most if not all of the "important" stuff. I've tripped across some interesting units with nice specs that I would like to "punish" to see if they are "worth it". How...

Re: As Yet to be Named Build..........

Finally got some time, a spare panel, and desire to start laying out the window. As a side note the side panels are interchangeable….meaning by just turning them “upside down” they will fit either side (excluding the fan of course). Managed to pick up a spare right side panel as I didn’t want to rui...

Swapping Out LEDs to Change Color

As part of the “as yet to be named” build I plan on replacing the blue LEDs that are part of the Zalman ZM850-HP that is in its future. Currently they are the usual “blue” and wish to replace with green. While I have no issues with de-soldering and soldering, component selection will be. In my limit...
