Re: Minimalist 4K

Yeah, I know two ways I can go is putting a better GPU that actually supports the resolution (you are right that 460 doesn't) or new-gen motherboard/CPU combo are the ways to go. Wanted to know if anyone has good experience with 4K on lower-end components, like, for example, if passive-cooled GPUs ...

Re: Minimalist 4K

ehh.. haswell CPUs can play 4K video with the integrated graphics.

Cram as much RAM into that system you can, and slap a GTX7xx series card in there should be fine.

Gamming at 4K, thats a WHOLE other issue.

Re: Thermaltake Core X2 water cooled build

Got fittings in, tubing ran, and been running the pump to bleed air from the loop and leak testing. In the process things got added to the "To-Do" list. -Shorten pump power wires, and sleeve the RPM lead. -Make up/buy SATA power extensions for SSD's. Stock power supply cables are too stiff...

Re: Thermaltake Core X2 water cooled build

Been poking away at my build. Spent a lot of time trying to figure routing of stuff. http://bubbaspad.com/images/gallery/2016_pc_build/fittings.jpg Discovered I need a couple more 90 fittings, those are in the snail mail. Not enough room between optical drives and the RAD fittings to do a "U&qu...

Re: Where are the Xeon Skylake Reviews?

My guess would be that its because the Xeon CPUs are more workstation/server oriented than desktop use, thus why no one has reviews on them. That, and mobo chipsets for the new Skylake Xeon's are also way limited. Not like in the past where you could get an enthusist board and run a Xeon on it, thin...

Thermaltake Core X2 water cooled build

http://bubbaspad.com/images/gallery/2016_pc_build/thermaltake_core_x2_001.jpg Last month my home PC crapped out on me, so started to gather parts for a new build. After a lot of back and forth I settled on the Thermaltake Core X2. http://bubbaspad.com/images/gallery/2016_pc_build/thermaltake_core_x...

Re: Autocad doesn't open on the new OS

Yup, 2006 in Win7 is sketchy. 2009 is the lowest you can run for Win7 and be stable (I think) We currently run 2013, no issues on Win7. I have tried 2013 on Win10 and it gets flaky, and Autodesk is not patching it to run on Win10 either. What sucks is that now Autodesk doesn't do standalone perpetua...

Re: Cryorig R1 Ultimate CPU Cooler Review

I'm VERY interested as well.

Most runs I have seen with 4790k's at 4.7 are routinely hitting 95*C with 30+ minute runs with current versions Prime. some are going as far as pulling the heatspreader off to get every degree they can.

current version of Prime is insanely hard on a CPU.

Re: Is win10 with DX12 faster?

My boy did the upgrade on his PC, but I had him running Win7 Pro and he doesn't really run old software, mostly games and graphics programs like Photoshop and Sketchbook Pro. I did have to reinstall the Anti-virus after the update, but other than that hes been running it since its release with no is...

Re: Is win10 with DX12 faster?

Got my boy a Acer One 10" tablet/2in1 deal. Win 10 interface is quite nice on it. He has been using 10 on his PC for a while, he likes it, runs well on his 3+yr old AMD A6-3500 box. I've got a non-touch laptop that I am in the process of putting 10 on to mess with at home. I know older work stu...

backups. backups. backups. Prior to Office 2007 Outlook would get a little pissy on any PST file over 2GB. Archive option helps things and make its happier. That makes 2 files, OUTLOOK.PST and ARCHIVE.PST I have had luck in the past with copying the PST file to the desktop and running the recover to...

Re: EKWB Predator 240 AIO Liquid CPU Cooler Review

For an upgrade-able DIY water setup its not that bad of a price, and for someone that is new to DIY loops, everything is in the box no guessing on parts needed. The Swiftech H20-X20 (Like the EK) is $240 The Swiftech H220X (Like the Corsair, CoolerMaster, prefilled plug and play) is $150 I get asked...

Re: Who is upgrading to Windows 10 today

Run the pro version and you can have updates be "deferred" up to 6 months. From every video I have seen of the revamped UI its going to be fine. Apps thing, that's just the way its going for most things. I dont care about the Xbone integration, think it stupid actually since it hijacks the...
