Spigen Tough Armor vs SUPcase Unicorn Beetle Pro

I am upgrading the myself and the kid's tracfones to Moto G6's. I am looking at cases (since they both cracked the screens on their last phones) and I think I have it narrowed down to the Spigen Tough Armor https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Reinforced-Kickstand-Protection-Technology/dp/B07D2YP2QZ/?tag=a...

Re: APC UPS 600VA BE600M1 Battery Backup & Surge Protector Review

Thanks Bubba for the input, I think you guys are right, this old guy should just be retired--you know me, I try to wring every last bit of usability out of my hardware until it crumbles lol. After finding some forums where people had problems after replacing the battery (possibly due to other factor...

Re: APC UPS 600VA BE600M1 Battery Backup & Surge Protector Review

I have an LS700 410watt/700va/510 joules with the same problem, battery dead. I see replacement batteries online from various sources anywhere from $25-$35. Would you suggest that I just tank this UPC and get a new one? Mine is a bit stronger (also old as dust lol), but this one has a USB port. In y...

Re: Replacing wireless card in C700 laptop

That would be great if you had something that would work. I had put this aside again because I got a little disheartened with it (mem compatibility issues, SSD issues waking up from sleep or hibernate). If you have some wireless n cards you can let me try that would be great. Also, this laptop uses ...

Re: Router to Router

Yeah not looking to do it wireless, it will be connected by ethernet to one of four ports on my AC/N router that runs the network so all I need it to do it take on the wireless traffic from the few G devices that have need of it.

Re: Replacing wireless card in C700 laptop

I am trying to get this laptop working the best so my daughter can take it to school with her, it is smaller than her home laptop and all she really needs is something that she can take notes with and have it easier to look things up in class than a small phone or tablet and can be considered a thro...

I saw that same thread when I googled it. Replacing wireless card in C700 laptop

I've got an old C700 laptop that I upgraded with a t9300 and 3GB of memory and a 120GB SSD which makes it pretty snappy, but still has a wireless g wifi card (broadcomm). It appears to be fairly easy to replace the wifi card, but will the compaq bios allow that? I had read that some HP bioses have a...

Router to Router

Currently my network is set up for wireless N/AC. I do have a couple of wireless g devices but I don't want to have to put my whole network into G compatibility mode just for one or two devices that aren't used regularly. Is it possible to take my old Linksys WRT-54G router and connect to my AC/N ro...

Conversion bracket

I would like to reuse my Artic Cooling Freezer64 Pro (has AMD bracket retention) onto an socket 775 board. I did find one item https://www.amazon.com/TronStore-Heatsink-Motherboard-Converter-Mounting/dp/B0727SY8F7 but I don't know how sturdy it is because it only has the one (middle) clip on each si...

Wireless AC Router suggestions

After 5 years my DIR-850L router's wireless radio is going wonky, get anywhere between 1Mbps>30Mbps download. Normally I blame Charter but when I hooked a PC up directly to ethernet I got crazy fast speeds of up to 130Mbps down and up to 12 Mbps up so for whatever reason the wireless radio isn't pla...

AIDA64 Memory Usage at Idle

How much memory does your AIDA64 program use at idle? By idle I mean not running any tests, just sitting there monitoring with the OSD on. I have noticed when it first starts up and OSD hits the screen that it is using around 90mb, but after a while I check in process manager and it is up around 400...

Re: DELAYING desktop screen after login in Win7x64

I made a drive on the 2nd partition because the program I was using was balking at writing the output to my own user account in the OS partition while she was logged in and I didn't want the output writing to/being stored in her user account. I may just pick up a cheap flash drive and plug into the ...

Re: DELAYING desktop screen after login in Win7x64

I wonder if it just takes so long because of the older chip w/less cores, DDR2 Memory, and older 80GB SATAII Spindrive with the output recorded on to a logical drive in another partition on the same physical drive as the OS...I have the exact same script running on the Living Room PC, except for a f...

DELAYING desktop screen after login in Win7x64

I know this sounds bass-ackwards, but I am trying to figure out how to delay login (after inputting password) for about 10-20 seconds. The reason being is that I have a script set up (with echo off) to run when my wife's user account (non-admin) logs on. If the PC has been idle for awhile after the ...

Re: Ditching Cable

hmmm that looks interesting, there's a Blues Hockey game on tomorrow night I may try the free trial to see how good the fox sports streams are, it says that all three are included but I won't count on that until I see it in action. I can set it up on my HTPC first and if that works buy google chrome...
