If you don't specifically need a laptop I would consider selling your laptop and building a desktop. With the laptop being so new you should be able to get over $1000 for it. I have a 1GB 8 port switch - and cat6 on all my PC in the home. I am not providing all the wireing fro everyone so some may be on cat5. But the problem with BF3 is that you have to be connected to the internet to play. IE: you cant host a local LAN game.
