its sad, not many are buying them. Less people buying, less volume, price goes up.
I use BD-R for archiving stuff at work. Not uncommon to go back 4 or 5 years to restore a file that hasn't been touched in that time. Not looking forward to when optical goes away for good. That will suck.

Re: APC UPS 600VA BE600M1 Battery Backup & Surge Protector Review
The batteries life cycle is 4 years, less with heavy repeated use. I know everyone is "buy online" but stand the chance of getting a fake battery, thats bad. SO go direct from APC or go to some place like Batteries+ in town. Looked up that model, from the look of it that is WAY old. I woul...

never put a laser printer on a UPS.
inkjet printers are fine, but laser printers pull to hard to fast.

my rig sets 2 feet from my head when I sleep. I blacked out any LED I could find on my system. Helps for the nights I leave the thing running to crunch on downloads (DSL Sucks) or trans-coding.

Re: ESXI home lab-ish
Still installing VMs. So far have Win XP/7/10, Server 2016, and Ubuntu Mate 18.04 installed and updated. I also want to play with dockers, and kick the tires on Plex, and try out different IP security cam setups. As for the Ryzen, I have not run one before, or run just a single install on it. I have...

ESXI home lab-ish
https://i.imgur.com/sUSGhNI.png Decided that I needed a stand alone VM server at home to play around with. Started looking at old Dell R710/720 servers on Ebay and decided that the electric bill couldn’t handle going that route. That and EEC RAM and SAS drives are not cheap... So I dug through my j...

Re: Anyone into 3d printing?
I have Cura installed and used it to do my idea to get a general idea how long it would take to print and just to see if I could get it right. Generating the GCODE and it printing can be two different things lol, but 99% of the time the projected time is off by the slicers. The longer the print, mo...

Re: NES Classic or SNES Classic?
The zapper tech depended on the known constant of how CRT's rendered lines and the set refresh rate. Modern LCD refresh rates and how they render lines F's all the sweet timing to hell and gone. But yeah, the NES and SNES classics are HDMI and come with a cable. Controller cables are a bit short tho...

Glad all my purchases from the Egg are done through my work account lol. Even then I find myself buying at micro center or Amazon more and more.
Wonder how my work is handling my on line purchases. I do it all through the company card. huh.

Shouldn't copy open files anyway. Thats how files get corrupted. Robo does do security if you turn the /SEC switch on. You can set a Robo script to run on a schedule.
