Re: Win7/8 free upgrade to Win10

Until opensource brings something to the table that will go toe-to-toe with Outlook, there are loads that will not move away from Office.

Re: Win7/8 free upgrade to Win10

I have done several of these updates. I found that if you have Office 2010 installed the inplace upgrade will fail every time. Even if you uninstall it. So if they have Office 2010, back it all up (should do that anyway). Use a key sniffer to get the Windows and Office keys, nuke the drive, and clea...

Re: I got a 3d printer - Creality Ender 5

rafts can be nice, I try using whats called "brim" or a "skirt" first. Less plastic used. Sometimes the raft can be a complete pain to get the part off of. Good about the board. The trick part of print times is finding the balance of speed and print resolution. I print most if no...

Re: I got a 3d printer - Creality Ender 5

Yeah, don't even think of using Flexible's on a bowden setup. There are people that run dedicated setups just for it due to the needs to print the stuff. As for the bowden tube not set against the nozzle. heat up everything, take the nozzle off and coupling. Shove the tube through the heat break to ...

Re: I got a 3d printer - Creality Ender 5

So it was before the bowden.. pure guess, but I would say the PLA was brittle or had a nic/score in it, that caused it to break, and the end started to curl between the feed tube and the drive gear. If you still have the filament that was left in the bowden look at what would have been the extruder ...

Re: I got a 3d printer - Creality Ender 5

I would get access to the firmware. Need that to turn on features like Thermal Runaway Protection and add things like the BL Touch. TH3D sells a kit for $16, here is their "how to" for the boards with 1284p chipset. https://www.th3dstudio.com/knowledgebase/1284p-printer-bootloader-flashing...

Re: I got a 3d printer - Creality Ender 5

Now you understand what I was saying how different brands/colors print different. The new brand may like a slightly lower print temp if its oozing that much. Priming can be fixed a coupe ways. Set there, preheat, then use control box to manually feed some filament, then as you move over to start the...

I don't even bother with different colors anymore. I paint everything I print so just I stick with one color.

Don't forget the bottom. The text shows how perimeters and small gap fill looks.

Can't make out the text on the back of the boat from the small images.

over all looks good.

Now do the XZY cube and see if you are dimensionally accurate.

Re: I got a 3d printer - Creality Ender 5

They both have their ups and downs. The powerspec has louder steppers due to the driver board. So get the stepper whine. Think Floppiton music on YouTube lol. It is also direct drive, this is both and up and a down side. Up, is that is direct drive. So little easier to dial in the feed/retracts. Sin...

Re: I got a 3d printer - Creality Ender 5

I have 2 now. Powerspec 3D pro 2 (micro center flashforge clone) and a Creality CR10S Pro. Both have been upgraded to micro swiss hotend. I don't use the powerspec too much anymore. Too friggen loud. The 32bit stepper drivers on the 10S Pro are dead quiet. I changed out all the fans so can hardly te...

For the more technical modeling, Autodesk Fusion360. It free for hobby work. Yearly renewal. For more free form modeling, blender. Meshmixer is also good for fixing or slicing up existing STL files. IF you want to stick with free, then start getting your brain wrapped around Cura for the slicer. If ...

Re: Win7 Updates

meh, spend close to 15 hours a day in front of Win 10 at this point the UI is the least of my complaints. Took me about a week of tweaking how I wanted the start menu laid out and what I wanted on it. I don't have to search a thing unless I want some odd user setting like a network cred, but I'm not...

Re: Win7 Updates

Windows 10 isn't all that bad once you get used to the new routes to various things.

As for the Open Shell, I would try life without it first. Right clicking on the start in Win10 gets you to most places. Pin control panel to the start, and what ever else you use on the regular. Done.

If you do electronics, can convert an old PSU to be a bench power supply.

Re: Anyone seen anything like this?

Had this happen with both A6 and A10 CPUs, I traced it down to graphics drivers. There would be something that would cause the driver to crash, in the process lock the machine up. Started with slight glitches on one of the two monitors I had, the screen would blip snow for a few seconds, then be fin...
