Re: EVGA E761 X58 SLI Classified Motherboard Review
Whoa! ~5.4GHz is definitely sweet! But that's quite different from what I'm trying to do. Still my hat's off to ya...

Re: EVGA E761 X58 SLI Classified Motherboard Review
...<snip>... Regarding that EVGA Forums link with the destroyed socket, the only thing I can think of is he either got the socket hot enough to weaken to weak the solder bonds holding the pins in place, something adhesive was layered on the back of his CPU when he put it in the socket and yanked pi...

Re: EVGA E761 X58 SLI Classified Motherboard Review
I got the E760 version of this board. As far as I can tell, it cost more and I got less (namely the OC panel). But I chose the board for several other reasons. First, I liked the idea of the 10-phase Digital PWM section. Second, I liked the idea of there being more "gold" in the CPU socket...

Re: 13 Intel Core i7 LGA 1366 CPU Coolers Compared
Well first I remounted the Zalman 9900 with Arctic Silver 5. Next I installed a 120mm fan in the lower portion of my 5.25" bay (pulling air from the front of the case). Then I actually set my voltages instead of letting the board set them for me. So with Vcore, an VTT, set to 1.2875v and my VDi...

Re: 13 Intel Core i7 LGA 1366 CPU Coolers Compared
Ok, I should probably take a chill pill... but my brain doesn't stop. So I have to ask a completely different question. Is the V10 really good? And if it is, can I modify it so I can support it? (I don't want it warping my motherboard!) Also do you think it will fit over the top of Corsair Dominator...

Re: Coolit Domino A.L.C. Water Cooler Review
In relation to the Domino ALC I found this review at NewEgg: " Pros: The unit performed admirably, My Q9550 idled at 28c would rise to about 34-36 under heavy load. I have a full tower so install was easy and took about 30 minutes. Fired up the Computer and I was good to go. However......3 week...

Re: Coolit Domino A.L.C. Water Cooler Review
Guys How loud is the Domino when the fan is on high? As I said in another thread, I'll be putting it in a HAF 932 case. And the fans in that are whisper quiet (a fact that I am rapidly getting used to! :) ). So I'm hesitant to get something that will be "loud"... though honestly I guess I ...

Re: 13 Intel Core i7 LGA 1366 CPU Coolers Compared
I can currently get the Domino for $71.25 (with free shipping), but I think I have to wait for the Corsair H50 to be available. I mean the Domino does have features like multi-fan modes and the LCD. But real performance is what I need.... oh and I have to figure out some kind of internal fan bracket...

Re: 13 Intel Core i7 LGA 1366 CPU Coolers Compared
Doh! I discovered why my "load temps" were LOW! I had unchecked "Hyperthreading" support. When I left it checked and ran OCCT, the CPU rapidly overheated as everything really was at 100%. No harm done, because it shut down the test automatically. But I do know that I'll need a be...

Re: 13 Intel Core i7 LGA 1366 CPU Coolers Compared
I have two questions: (Both of which might be indicated by other articles - but are not obvious in this one) 1. Is your CPU a D0 stepping? or a C0/C1 stepping? 2. How are you getting a single temperature result? I have Core Temp 0.99.4 and it gives me 4 individual "core temps". So I might ...

Re: Case fans direction
The one thing I might add is that it helps to the air "into" the case slightly higher than "out of" the case. This "Positive Pressure" helps keep out the dust. "Negative Pressure" makes your case act like a vacuum cleaner.

Re: ASUS Rampage II Extreme X58 Motherboard Review
ASUS Rampage II Extreme X58 Motherboard Review In my opinion, if I was to get a Core i7, I might as well shell out a couple extra dollars and get this over the P6T. Such a great motherboard. It's only $100 more than the P6T... I don't know... this board has that "Supreme FX sound card". T...

Re: XFX To Introduce Power Supply Line Soon - 850W Black Edition
If they can build a unit that is truly worthy of the "80 Plus Silver Certified" claim. And sell it for a reasonable price. Then I would be interested. Still I'll probably spring for an Enermax Revolution 1050W, since I'm certain that is a "high efficiency" unit.

Re: ASUS Announces Easy Overclocking with the ROG OC Station
The one draw-back that occurs to me is that it's "bay mounted"... see my desk is occupied with 2 displays, so my case sits off to one side (just over 3ft.). When I first saw this I thought it might have it's own power brick, with a cable attaching it to one's system, and sit on the desk. O...

Re: Coolit Domino A.L.C. Water Cooler Review
I was previously very interested in Swiftech's H20-120 Compact >> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835108100 . But this even less expensive and probably performs better as well. The "catch" for me is that I'll have to switch to a different case, as neither of these wil...

Re: Asus X48 Rampage Extreme Motherboard Review
I don't buy Asus motherboards anymore. Regardless of how stellar they may perform. I just don't have any confidence that the board I get will work as well as the samples given out for review.

Re: Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Deploys to Retail Stores
I was previously interested in Warhammer Online. But with the release of Spore Electronic Arts instituted a completely unfair copy protection scheme, that limits the number of Installations (in Spore's Case to 3). So since they feel like they should punish people who buy their software, I'm not buyi...

Re: AMD Doesn't Want You To Think NVIDIA is a Robin Hood
I totally agree with AMD/ATI on this issue. But Nvidia is too greedy! I knew a long time ago that SLI would work on "non Nvidia" platforms. A prime example was some of the ULi chipsets (prior to their being bought out by Nvidia - mind you this was only done to kill their competitive develo...

Re: Crackaling Speakers
I have an X-Fi card as well. I'm running Vista 32bit. I never got any crackling until I enabled the CMSS and Crystalizer. I would recommend you check your Audio Console (in the Control Panel), and try disabling those two features. Hope that helps... But there are "known issues" with X-Fi c...
