Re: Corsair CX430M Modular Power Supply Review

Just ordered one for my Home server :)
Dell Optiplex 755 w E8400, 8GB, 2x 2TB Raid 1 with 320GB OS, and once I get the CX430M I'll have my extra USB3 controller in it for backups :D
(The stock Dell PSU only has 4 Sata connectors and 0 molex :( )

I just wish I caught the $25 deal #-o

Re: New Rosewill L600N Router Driving Me Bats**t Crazy!

I would check to see if you can load up DD-WRT on it, My TP Link WDR-3600 had to be rebooted 2-3 times a day due to DNS issues, after I upgraded it to DD-WRT it has been golden (and a simply awesome router) another thing to try if the replacement does the same thing- DD-WRT is a much more in-depth i...

Re: Build advice

If using raw audio and making a lot of edits I would use a HDD for storage, a SSD is still great for an OS drive, but I would get a smaller one to save money there and get a nice big hard drive for storage (Probably a 1TB Western Digital caviar or Seagate Barracuda can be had around $70) I would get...

Re: My E8500 vs Q6600

keep in mind overclocking a Q6600 (Kentsfield-Conroe ) would be much different than Q8-9xxx (Yorkfield-Wolfdale).that said I've used a poor revision Q6600 to get to 3.6GHz stable, and am writing from a Q8400 at 3.8GHz though there are a lot of factors at hand to achieving those clocks or higher, ove...

Re: Wireless Network Issues

Skier, thanks for the reply and yes the information that you have provided is very helpful. I hate to sound stupid, but do I need to shut down my N900 wireless router before connecting my N600 to my PC? Thanks! No problem, and you can keep both routers on all the time you are working on them, of co...

and to think I just got mine a couple weeks ago for 68 :? router has excellent signal, but I have had crazy DNS resolution problems where it needed at least one reset per evening when movie streaming, but hardline connections never had an issue. issue seemed to resolve when I set my server to both D...

Re: Wireless Network Issues

most likely, check the N600 for a configuration setting for Enable WDS Bridging , when you select that function it should then give you options for selecting the ssid to connect to, the Mac address for the N900 and credentials for the ssid of the n900. As far as I know the SSID's need to be differen...

Car Audio & Civic rebuild

Not sure if any of you guys are car nuts, or car audio nuts, but here's the (long) skinny: I have a '97 Civic DX that I got this past fall with 120k on it, that I got for a cheap commuter because I was strapped for cash and my '93 Sable with 240k wasn't exactly keeping up with my 80mile+/day commute...

Re: Aerocool touch 1000?

think it's mostly preference, but I guess if it is more central (lowest) then it will be easier to connect all fans (easier for fan cables to reach it)

but if all fans could reach the top bay I would put it there personally

Re: SSD And a Caviar Drive

the main reason for green drives is in lower-power solutions, like a backup drive or file server where you need the space but read/write is not a concern yet you want to keep power usage down (since a file server would be on 24/7)

Ghetto, but should work and not break the bank! Is the HSF just sitting on the CPU? Be careful there! it is mostly just sitting, but I have clear packaging tape protecting the components around the CPU and NB, and they are held in place with Ceramique and more packaging tape. As long the system sta...

So I am building a server to run as a file access, WDS, WSUS, Domain controller, DHCP, DNS, and Print server to play around and get some experience with for work so I can move on up, and here is what it is built on: IMG_0273.JPG It is a Dell Latitude D620 1.6Ghz CoreDuo stripped of everything but th...

Steam saves game data in one place and save games in your documents folder, most save to your docs folder these days though some save to an app data. really does depend on the game/engine/DRM

Re: $300 range

Well the MSI 660ti is very tempting right now at $230 after $25 MIR because it still has 1344 cores and of course the Core boost is not something I'm super interested in, being an overclocker to begin with. -and anyway the Galaxy is sold out now. Fairly certain I'll end up with a 660TI. and if any m...

Hey everyone Happy Holidays! So I currently have a GTX460 1GB, but I want to move that to a secondary PC and upgrade my GPU as the first real step toward a modern PC (being the most expensive step) I'm currently looking at GTX 660ti's but is that the best route I can go? would I get better performan...

just go with SLI so physx is included if that functionality is really desired, its not like a major sacrifice going with Nvidia instead of AMD, especially at the cost range you are already at
