Re: Phenom II vrs Athlon II
the ONLY difference between an Athlon II and Phenom II at the same speed is L3 cache, where Deneb-based Phenom II's have 6MB L3 cache and Athlon II's have no L3 cache. there are very few scenarios where the L3 cache would be even slightly noticeable. even in synthetic benchmarks you do not see a di...

Re: Leaked SiSoft Sandra Scores Show AMD FX 'Zambezi' Bulldo
Since the most demanding thing I do with my PC is gaming and since games barely support quad cores, I'm not going to be upgrading in a while. However, if I were to upgrade, I'd probably pick an AMD CPU because of cost. The difference in power usually results in little difference in games. I wish gam...

Interesting how businesses branch out. Online retailers are growing like physical retailers did, becoming "supermarkets" of sorts. Will be interesting to see the competition implications.

Re: LucidLogix Injects HyperFormance to Virtu Software
Sounds good. Responsiveness is very important for gaming. Even when I was running Crysis back in 2007 at a little less than 30FPS, it somehow still felt responsive. Framerate is important, but responsiveness is ultimately what decides playability. By the way, what is the difference between this topi...

Re: Razer to Co-Design the Ultimate Arcade Stick for Xbox 36
I have been looking around for a great arcade stick for my PC. This should be compatible with the PC as well, if so and if the price is right, I'll pick one up.

Re: Microsoft opens up the Windows 8 Preview to all!
I find most of the new features to me useless to me. I haven't had a chance to try out the Windows 8 preview, but from what I have seen, I will wait until Windows 9 comes out. I may consider Windows 8 if the Xbox 360 emulator rumours turn out to be true.

Re: How many devices are in your home network?
Four PCs
Two laptops
One Playstation 3
One Nintendo DS
So eight in total, from what I can remember off the top of my head.

I agree with Apoptosis. I'm using the 11.8 preview drivers right now and they're great.

Re: AMD Catalyst 11.7 and 11.8 Preview Drivers Released
Was wondering when these would show up. I looked at the changes in 11.7 and it looked boring compared to the 11.8 preview, so I installed the preview drivers. Everything is stable and performance is great. Nice to see the improvements in MLAA, even though I don't use it much. Still waiting for them ...

Re: Firefox 7.0 (Aurora channel) preview released
The leaps in numbers seem a little weird, but if they're trying to push out more significant updates in shorter time spans, I'm all for it. That memory usage comparison is amazing. Good to see progress made in that area since I've heard a lot of complaints about Firefox greedily eating memory.

Re: Windows 8 Video and a Rant
I don't care for petty interface changes either. However, Microsoft claims to be supporting PC gaming more (but we've all heard that before with Vista and even back to the Windows 95 days). If they do pull through on that and allow for far greater gaming performance either through a "gaming mod...

Re: AMD Catalyst 11.6 Drivers Released
Thanks for the heads up. I wanted to wait until multi-threaded rendering support, but I caved on this release since it was about time. I updated from 11.2 to this version. Everything is running smoothly, though I don't notice much of a difference yet.

Re: Duke Nukem Forever goes gold!!
I've played the game. It's obviously not "worth the wait" but it's a decent game. Seems like some reviewers took the game very personally and gave overly harsh reviews. I can see 6s and 7s, but 2s and 3s? Those scores are usually reserved for games like Big Rigs, which is definitely being ...

Use one drive for Windows. Use the other drive for your most used programs. Finally, your mechanical drives are for whatever don't fit on the SSDs.
Awesome hardware, by the way. That keyboard looks great!

Re: AMD Catalyst 11.4 WHQL Drivers Released
Looks great, but I think I'll wait until AMD releases drivers with multi-threaded support under DirectX 11. I don't think this set supports that.
