I don't know if this helps you or not, but when I upgraded from my old harddrive to my new WD one, I used Western Digital's Data Lifeguard Tools, which took the contents from the old one and put it on perfectly on the newer, bigger drive. I just add it to my startup menu. Mine does not get rid of the team number - wait let me look...nope still there.

That is for the GUI client

If you ahve it in the default directory make sure the shortcut says this...

"C:\Program Files\Folding@Home\winFAH.exe"

for the file to open
