Re: Using an Xbox 360 HD DVD Player on a desktop PC

I feel you on that the media part 100%... How long does it take you to use AnyDVD HD to rip the disc to the HDD? Screw AnyDVD, try DVDFab HD Decrypter. I use this to backup my niece and nephew's movies for my sister. It is free, it's updated more than AnyDVD and removes the protection just like Sly...

Re: Windows Doesn't Recognize Optical Drives

Search google for a tool called "reset dma" and run it. If you are still having problems getting them recognized try a different IDE cable. It's always a good idea to check for spyware and viruses when weird stuff starts happening.

Re: Cleaning a computer...

personally i use an air compressor, its a 150 PSI twin cyclinder beast, i put the computer on like a chair outside and keep blowing air until NO more dust comes out There's a reason I use 40 PSI. One, you can knock stuff off of the motherboard/other parts with too much air pressure. Two, if you cle...

Re: Cleaning a computer...

21 gallon air compressor set to 40 PSI. If I'm somewhere else and the computer is a nightmare I use a wand attachment on a vacuum.

Re: computer flickers but will not turn on

1. Remove the old hard drive, likely held in with 4 small screws. Just unplug the connections from the back of the drive. If there are more screws search for them. You aren't going to screw up the computer any more than it already is. 2. Buy the enclosure. 3. Read the directions, hook it up in the b...

Re: fast parts in a slow computer

Couple of things... 1. You do know that Gigabit networks work a CPU pretty hard. If you have a slow CPU on one end you will likely not fully utilize your conneciton. 2. Download SANDRA and run the network test to see what speeds you are getting. I recently bought a couple Gigabit NICs and a Gigabit ...

Re: computer flickers but will not turn on

Since I don't really understand what you are say/asking I'll try my best... If you have pictures you want off the dead computer the only way to get them off there is to put the hard drive in another working computer. You need to set the jumper to the opposite of what is in the working PC. From there...

Re: CRT vs LCD stress on video cards

I thought NFS: Carbon needed a DX9 card to even work? I would venture a guess that your CRT can do 640X480 but the minimum supported resolution of the LCD would be 800X600. Higher resolution means more pixels to put on the screen = lower FPS.

Long time poster first time lurker. I hope you update this article when you can get the DX9 version. I want to see if DX10 is taxing the cards more. I imagine it will but I hope it isn't like the PhysX card and GRAW. Good to be here, I've wanted to ask a question here and there or add my $0.2. I fin...
