The X800XL was meant to compete with the 6800NU (unlocked to 16 pipes sometimes). It (the XL) is 16-pipe and can be OCed easily. Unfortunatly, I bought a 12-pipe 6800NU that will not unlock, should have waited...

I just bought my system, from what I've heard existing 939 boards just will need a BIOS flash to go dual core. Is that correct?

I've heard 64-bit driver support is bad, but that was months ago, so it's probably better now. I'm gonna go x64 sometime in the next year if I see real-world gains from it (I've heard XP64 uses more memory than XP....grrrr  )

I'll have to defend U-XC as well. I have a 400 watt in my A64 system, it's flawless. I guess Ultra Products just has an unacceptably high "lemon" rate (read:PSUs below quality spec)...

Well, a 6800NU "becoming" a 6800GT/U is a bit of an exaggeration. However, the 6800NU AGP can sometimes unlock. I saw a jump from 103.4 FPS to 115.5 FPS in the CS:S stress test without any OCing...OC an unlocked 6800NU for some real fun.

Why is my 6800NU so hot?

I have this cooler reviewed at ClubOC that initially dropped my card's idle temps from 45-47C to 37-40C. However, of late my idle temps are back up even with no OCing. (the card was OCed until the temps started going nuts.) The only thing I did that I know of was installe new ForceWare...

Wow. If you need two different versions of the same thing, screw ATI cards until they do something smarter...there's no "master" and "slave" in SLI!

I have one of these "phantom processors." It's 2.2GHz...512kB cache, but it has a NewCastle core instead of the Winchester core of the 3500.
