Re: ASUS P6T Deluxe & SAS
I was planning to use one of the SAS ports as a SATA port for a SSD which will contain my OS and then use the normal SATA ports to configure a RAID 5 aray. Anyone know if this is possible or will I run into the problem of not being able to use a SAS port for boot up even though it will be utilized a...

Re: Prospective New Build
WWD: I'll be using it strictly as a wireless device. As I live in California (across the pond, over the hills, through the plains, and over some more hills) I won't be able to pick up the router you suggested but clicking on the link it looks pretty sweet! TFP: Thanks for the input! I'm going to try...

Re: Prospective New Build
I ordered all my parts from newegg and should be able to start my build this weekend! I decided to go with the GSkill 128 GB SSD for my OS drive rather than the 300 GB Raptor but I'm still looking for drives to put into the RAID 5 array that Skippman suggested. Anyone know how the Seagate Barracuda ...

Re: Help! Strange wireless issue
Have you tried using your laptop's wireless with your wife's turned off? Any possibility your provider has you capped?

Re: Prospective New Build
Don't go SSD yet! Especially if you want an HTPC; you will want terabytes not 100~ gigabytes ;) As for the PSU, I would go Corsair. Nope won't be using SSD for everything. I've been saving for this computer for a while but I'm not made of money! I was just talking about using it for my OS drive. Ye...

Re: Prospective New Build
I dropped by Fry's tonight and with the help of a friends employee discount picked up the Antec 1200 for $155 and the LG Blu-Ray for $100! :) Combo deals at Newegg pair the ASUS P6T Deluxe with the OCZ Gold 6GB and the i7 920 with the Corsair CMPSU-850TX that Skippman suggested so things are dove-ta...

Re: LG Scarlet 42"
I bought a 32LG60 to use as my new computer monitor and have been LOVING it as a TV! Along with video settings for movies/sports/games it also has corresponding sound settings. Another cool feature is voice enhancement which increases dialog volume while maintaining a lower volume on background nois...

Prospective New Build
Hey Everyone, It's been about 5 years since my last full build and specs have changed just a bit in that interval! Through A lot of research and some help from people on this forum I've narrowed everything down to what I think is a pretty good build: Case: Antec 1200 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pr...

Re: Video Shopping Overload
Thanks guys. I've settled on the SAPPHIRE 100270SR Radeon HD 4850 X2 2GB as a great price vs. performance choice. Like ibleet I prefer a single card (which in this case is actually 2 cards) but the dvd upscaling is very key to what I'm using the computer for. As it turns out this should have been on...

Video Shopping Overload
It’s been a while since I’ve built a rig from the ground up and in the interim video card choices have expanded significantly. With such a proliferation it’s hard to narrow it down. Where is the current sweet spot price/performance? I’ve decided on the ASUS P6T Deluxe and will be housing everything ...

RAM for ASUS P6T Deluxe
I've been browsing RAM online and have a few questions for the venerable experts. I've decided to go with a 6GB kit in order to future proof my system for a while and am leaning towards either OCZ or GSkill for performance to cost to reliability ratio. I got a little confused when getting into the s...

Re: Gigabyte VS. Asus
Thanks for the input guys; I'm going with the ASUS. Express Gate looks like it'll be fun to try. I went spec for spec between the P6T Deluxe and Rampage II and the only difference that jumped out at me was that the Rampage had 3 X16 PCI slots while the P6T was only capable of X16/X16/X1. Is there an...

Gigabyte VS. Asus
I've narrowed down my motherboard choice to either the GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD5 LGA 1366 or ASUS P6T Deluxe LGA 1366 for use with my core i7 920 and am looking for some input to tip the balance. I will be using my computer for: 1. Gaming (Including some online gaming such as Team Fortress 2) 2. Video / ...

Hey everyone my name’s Shane. I’ve been lurking around here for quite awhile now and have just gotten around to using the forums. My first computer was an Atari 800 XL and I’ve been hooked ever since. I started upgrading computers when I was pretty young (my first upgrade was replacing my parent’s o...
