Re: Dynamic disk offline error
Try the bootable linux option - failing that you can use "MHDD" http://hddguru.com/software/2005.10.02-MHDD/ Use Unetbootin to copy to a usb key It will scan and try fix any bad sectors, but also correctly mark the bad ones as dead and this way you can usually recover data. You can also tr...

Re: Dynamic disk offline error
Have you scanned the drive for bad sectors? I'd try that first & choose the option to repair. If you've done this already, try reformat via a bootable linux distro like gparted or even Ubuntu. Make sure to delete the partition(s) before formatting as otherwise they might still be picked up as dy...

Re: V3 Components Voltair TEC CPU Cooler Review
A TEC should give sub-zero temps & it should be external & pull <100W or more. Anything less is just for show.
Nice review though..

Re: i5 3570k!
They are probably using registry & memory tweaks, a quick Google search brings up some forum threads. I haven't read any of them, but I remember doing it back in the day and you can get a nice boost in points.

Re: i5 3570k!
Do they have the same GFX card? As with cuda etc. the card takes a lot of that load too. An extra ~ 1000 points is a lot though.
I'd run & compare other benchmarks to test each component; cpu, memory & hdd. This way you can identify the culprit.

Re: i5 3570k!
Sounds about right - there are deminishing returns after a certain point and you need to add more and more voltage - eventually you reach a point when temps are an issue I haven't overclocked since core2duo was first released, but try setting the LLC to auto Also see this table from Anandtech - Resu...

I' just go with any established brand and if possible, one with a good warranty.
Any of the usual suspects; Kingston, Corsair, G.Skill etc.

Re: Network issue-God help me
Can the other PC's on the LAN see the server? Can any of those see the laptop? On the laptop & server, do you have firewall software running? If so, which one? Try disabling it, if still the same, reboot & test. If still the same, check the firewall is disabled after reboot. You might have t...

Re: Crucial M550 512GB SSD Review
Aparantly the speed is lower on the 256GB and smaller dives due to less NAND chips (This drive uses 128Gbit NAND as opposed to other manufacturers using 64Gbit) This drive only has brought speeds up to where they should have been, the new revision of the controller does not improve performance only ...

it's possible the install disk is slightly damaged and the dvd drive on your pc is better than the laptop, not all drives are equal. Some read disks better than others.

Don't get swayed by hi-end audio stuff, it does sound great but once you get hooked into this stuff the sound quality is never good enough. You will be eating TV dinners for the next decade in your sitting room, no furniture or TV; only a kickass hifi to look at ;-) What's important to you, clear mi...
