Tier-Two motherboard makers on fund-raising spree

Several Taiwan-based second-tier motherboard makers, including Soyo Computer, Abit Computer, Chaintech Computer and Albatron Technology, are all in the midst of fund-raising plans, with the aim of stepping up their product development, according to sources at the makers.

Looks as if we are dealing with some pretty big sums of money here!

Abit is looking for US $60 million
Chaintech is looking for US $500 million
Albatron is looking for US $350 million

Something in the overall market must be changing right now to make these large companies seek so much additional funding. Any ideas? :?:
