Loss of my sidefan :(

Post by DJ Tucker »

Afternoon everyone. As the title says i have lost the use of my sidefan. For some reason to decided to stop working for no reason. Think the motor has given up. However, since the loss of my sidefan, my temps have increased significantly. Below are my load temps tested in OCCT Power Supply test at 20.5c ambient. OCCT power supply max loads CPU's, GPU's and Memory. Only load temps are the issue.

WITH THE FAN

Power Supply
CPU - 50c
Core 1 - 54c
Core 2 - 52c
GPU Primary - 68c
GPU Secondary - 64c
Northbridge - 58c

WITHOUT THE FAN

Power Supply
CPU - 62c
Core 1 - 65c
Core 2 - 64c
GPU Primary - 82c
GPU Secondary - 75c
Northbridge - 72c

Ok so my temps have increase an awful lot but still within max temps. But my real worry is my Northbridge. Is this temp a worry as i can't find anything about my the max temp for my board. Also can anyone find me a 190mm sidefan as i can't find one anywhere?

Saw here - http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/24726 ... mps-normal - p6n diamond they were talking 100c.

I would not worry unless you start seeing high 80's or 90's.

You can always replace the sidefan or get a better cooler for the NB also.

If you are overclocked I would remove it for now until you get the cooling under control also.
Remember, I am opinionated and nothing I say or do reflects on anyone or anything else but me :finga:

thx knight rider. thats put my mind at ease :) i really need a 190mm blue led sidefan asap as although these temps are ok but close max threshold i don't want to risk it. apprently this case can hold either 180mm or 190mm but can't see how a 180mm could fit as the screw fittings from corner to corner are 200mm. anyone have any idea?

I never heard of a 190 mm fan, a 200mm fan yes. WHat chassis are you using? if you plan on replacing that fan with another 200mm, I suggest getting a NZXT 1300 RPM fan, it has a 166 CFM rating.

Try contacting them, let them know that the fan died. They can likely send you a replacement. Doesn't hurt to ask

Sounds like you just need to pickup a 180 MM/140 MM/ 120 MM fan and just mod it to fit. After looking at the manufacturer's site this might be a proprietary fan they buy from a distrubuter.

If it doesn't work drill 4 holes so you can install it. If you don't want to do that then pull off the side panel and install this, it's almost the same size as the stock fan. :P

i wouldn't like to drill holes in it thats for sure. that fan is huge and my god that would blow my system over. mind you think of the cooling. 2500 CFM  anyway i guess the answer to me finding a fan suitable is a no so i'll have to go with out :(

Pickup a 140MM fan and some double sided tape. Tape the 4 corners of the fan. Press the fan into the mesh. Now you have a side fan again without any drilling or modding.

a 240mm fan would fit if the screw fittings also made a total of 240mm. this is why i wish i didn't get this case. don't get me wrong my case is amazing but nothing the the specs said the case had 240mm screw fittings for a 180mm fan.
