I recently installed the new version of Glary Utilities and the time it gives to start Windows is different from Bootracer. Where are the times/logs stored in Windows so I can see what it says? Thanks.

You can open up Event Viewer, head into the Windows Logs -> System log, and then filter by Event ID 6006, which indicates that the event log service was shut down—one of the last things that happens before a reboot.

Would that help?

Windows does a pretty good job at tracking boot up times...I had to write up a document for the field techs on how to check it.

Open Event Viewer
Create a “Custom View”
Right click “Custom View” and select Create Custom View
Logged: Any Time
Event Level: Check all
By Log: Applications and Services Logs – Microsoft – Windows - Diagnostics-Performance – Operational
Event ID: 100
Click Ok
Name Custom View: Boot Time
Click Ok
MainPathBootTime is from the time the Windows Logo appears to the login prompt
BootPostBootTime is the time from the login prompt to the desktop, when CPU is at 80% idle

Other Event ID’s
101 – Application time
102 – Driver initialization time
103 – Service start up time
106 – Background Optimization took longer to complete
109 – Device initialization time

Thanks for both responses. Nate, I was looking to see if there was a log of how long it takes to start Windows. I created the Custom View so I could check it from time to time but now I'm even more confused.

Yes, that's correct. Have to keep in mind that it calculates it until the CPU is at 80% idle at the desktop. If you have stuff that starts up in the background (AV/Spyware for example) it'll keep counting until it's loaded and CPU is idle...

That's why you can actually look through it, and see exactly what is taking the longest to try narrowing it down a little :)

mine is somewhat high at 140-160 seconds. i opened msconfig and checked os boot information so ican see what drivers load and if any take a while. all drivers loaded in 10 seconds. it hangs for 90-120 seconds when it tells me i have 2 core with 4096mb memory. it then pops up says windows is checking file system C and says volume is clean every boot?

Gotcha, this falls right in line with Glary Utilities.
