so I have the zalman 9900max but the original bracket that came with it is a nightmare to install. it fits but just would not go on easy. took me 30 minutes just to get it on. however, I have been looking around to see if my old cs5b bracket from zalman (which I have from my old system) would work on my cpu and board? zalman have yet to get back to me and it's been a week. any help would be appreciated

I ended up turning the black lower bracket into studs and then use thumb nuts. Those coolers are great, but nightmare to install on intel based machines.

Not a bad idea but that's too much hassle for me lol. I have tried looking on google for an insite as to whether the bracket will fit or not. it seems compatible but really not sure if I want to risk it. My cooler is not listed under the supported coolers for that bracket but everything else they do is
also my bracket from the 9500 cooler was design before 1155 socket came out. back in 2008. would the new cs5b bracket be different?

Socket 755 and in your case 1155 have different mounting hole locations. So in short it probably won't work out of the box.

had a feeling that would be the case. I was just concerned of my temps and wanted to re-apply the paste but the bracket is so hard to install. so I won't be changing it any time soon unless I can find the cs5b 1155 version bracket anywhere. full load 60c on core 2 and 3. 56c on core 1 and 52c on core 4 ok?

That's damn good. Keep it under 80 degrees and call it a day. My old AiO water cooling loop would hit mid to upper 80s, hence why it swapped it with a Phanteks cooler.
*EDIT*
Those are overclocked temps, correct? What program are you using to stress the cores?

yes they are overclocked temps. that was using 3dmark vantage cpu test 1 and continuous loop. but with occt linpack using 90% of available memory I get core 2 and 3 68c core 1 64c and core 4 62c

Your temps are fine, no need to reapply the paste.
