GTX 980 Dead :(

So as the title states, yes my GTX 980 has just died for no reason at all. I come home to power on my pc and all is fine until I reach my desktop. Once there, I am greeted with blue vertical lines and major blurring to the point I can't make anything out on the monitor. Safe mode and/or uninstalling the driver using display driver uninstaller shows no problems but, install driver and bam, artifacts  the seller on ebay won't refund me and he can't/won't provide proof of purchase so rma seems out of the question. I have contacted inno3d about my issue and now it's a waiting game until I get a reply [-o< What else do you guys suggest? :-k

ok so now my 980 gets to the glowing windows logo and after 15 seconds the logo stops glowing and freezes my pc. my gtx 580 I have as backup works beautifully. so I found out that safe works with the 980. I disabled the gpu in device manager and booted into windows normally with success but only due to the gpu being disabled. I then enable the gpu and again the system freezes and that's as far as I can get. the transaction was completed outside of ebay through paypal but I sent a personal payment by mistake and paypal won't help me. I now have to hope that inno3d will get back to me asap and except my rma. if not then I'm stuck with a inno3d gtx 980 ichill herculez x4 airboss ultra ornament :(

Sorry to hear all this, but why in the world would you complete a transaction outside of e-bay?

How long ago did you buy the card? There is a 30-day return period for pretty much everything on ebay and ebay sides with the buyer 99.9% of the time.

If you didn't complete the transaction within ebay though I think you violated the terms and conditions and likely the 30 day money back guarantee.

already chatted with paypal and ebay. neither are able to help as the transaction was completed outside of ebay and I sent a personal payment through paypal and that isn't covered by the protection. is inno3d any good at responding to an rma request as it's been 3 days and nothing as of yet :(

Not sure, but usually you'll need the receipt and you aren't the original owner, so... Not good odds to be honest.

Bet you won't buy anything outside of ebay again... As a buyer there is no reason to do so. The seller is on the hook for all the fees and ebay is setup to protect the buyer.

so after a long debate and help from inno3d's peter berkhout, I got my rma sent through overclockers uk back in October. so I contacted overclockers to see where my gtx 980 is and they said they haven't heard anything and I need to contact the manufacture however I am now getting no communication from them and fear my £450 gtx 980 has gone. what can I do at this point?

You sent it back with a tracking number correct? See where it is and who(m) got it and call them.

Expensive lesson to learn :( I really do hope this gets sorted out but with all the time that has passed.....

BTW, I would of check the TIM under the cooler because buying someting second hand... ex. they could of have WC or another aftermarket cooler on it and forgot to put TIM after swapping (I've seen it before). Because when artifact and freezing comes after certain time, it often is overheating and when buying second hand, this is what I first check allways.

yes it went to overclockers uk and they don't know anything more than it being sent off at there end. they can't even tell me who or when it went out for repair. it was brand new not secondhand. overclockers are being a bit of a nuisance :(
