Please Don't Hate!

Post by DJ Tucker »

I went ahead and got me a new desk but not any old desk. The Lian Li DK-Q2X. Got it all setup and until the Lepa Exllusion 240 didn't fit as with the tubing, it was too tall. So here is my question.

Where in the UK can I get a 90 degree fittings connecting to the cpu block/res with some clear tubing about 50cm long? Only need to mod this part to get the tubing to lay flat across and save about 5cm height and stop current tubing from kinking, stopping me from using the Lepa Exllusion all together. Also anyone able to guide me through the process of modding the Lepa Exllusion to work, as I think glue has been used to fix the tubing as factory standard and need to know what glue if any needed would be best?

Sorry, I am in the USA so couldn't help on where to buy local.

I would suggest instead of a 90 degree, look for a 45 or something close so it wont hurt the water flow as much....now this statement is not on actual use and proof but just thinking of the water slamming into a 90 degree angle as it is on its way around.

online - http://www.frozencpu.com/cat/l1/g30/Liquid_Cooling.html

Also, I would probably just use hose clamps to hold the hoses on. There are hose clamps in cars, riding mowers, my father in laws bobcat......so they hold up very well with fluid running through in harsh conditions.

well what it seems I need now is a new fitting. I need a 13mm OD/10mm ID right angle fitting that I can screw over the current barbed fitting from the res/pump with a barbed end of that right angled fitting that I can either hose clamp or preferably screw tight?

If it is a barbed end then it should be able to hold with a clamp as you cant screw a hose on to it unless it is threaded and so is your hose.

If the barb is plastic just dont crank down super hard when tightening the clamp so you dont break the plastic.

you may just be able to go to your local hardware store and find the things you need also. There is nothing special about the cooling items used for a computer to let water flow. I even saw online that people were using regular pvc.

i would rather buy them online for aesthetics. could you point me in the direction of the correct part I need to connect a right angled fitting to a barbed fitting with a barbed fitting on the end of that right angle. if not, a right angled fitting that again screws over a barbed fitting with a threaded end to connect another fitting that has a barbed end? :)

Sorry if that was a mouthful or confusing but really need help here.

The best advice I can offer is to email them at Frozen CPU or whichever site you want to buy from and include a picture of both ends with the diameter (inside and outside is always helpful) and see if they can fit it for you. I have no clue which connector for you to get as I dont own the store (wish I did though!).

I am really surprised none of the water cooling guys/gals has chimed in, I guess they aren't here anymore :(

This is a picture of my fittings. As you can see it's barbed but has a threaded bottom. I am looking for a right angle or even a 60 degree fitting to screw on to the thread with a barbed end. If not a barbed end something that I can screw a barbed fitting into :)

Oh, ok, write to Lepa - http://www.lepatek.com/eng/ - and ask them where you can get those connectors.

http://www.lepatek.com/eng/support/ - direct to the contact support page.

Tell them what you would like to do and they may be able to help you or at least point you in the right direction.

I just do not have any first hand knowledge with this product or your use to figure out exactly what you would need. Those barbs are awful small too!

Where are the connectors that came off of it that had the original tubing on/in them?

i have already contacted them twice and its been 6 days since my last message and nothing. I took them apart to have a look to see what was underneath. it simply has a tube the connects to the barbed fitting and a screw that goes onto the thread and tightens over the tube just as a hose fastener :)

OK, take that nut/screw/fastener to your local hardware store and find a nut that is the same size, if you actually need any of them, I don't think you should though.

Then while you are there ask them for a 90 degree plastic connector for the tubing size you have, so take a piece of the tubing too, and any extra tubing you may need/want. Go grab a hot dog. Go home and ponder what was in that hot dog. Connect your wonderful 90 degree piece to your tubing and then to your block. Wont be as pretty as the special connectors and all that jazz but it should get water flowing through your house computer hoses.

BAM, done, watercooling by Mike LOL

so I went to my local hardware store and I had no luck at all. They had the right size but the thread was to long and the o ring didn't reach. therefore it would of leaked. I got lucky in finding a black right angle though. That fitted beautifully and would of worked a charm but shame about the short threaded fitting to convert :(

ok so after a lot of messaging around I found the measurements of the pump/res and the threaded part is g1/4" and 16mm or 5/8" diameter and the barbed top is 10mm or 3/8" diameter. I need a 90 degree fitting that will screw over that and be at least 25mm tall with a screw cap barbed ending. Is it possible to find an adapter that can screw over the current non-movable fitting that has a barbed end at 90 degrees?

I honestly don't know. I still think either your local hardware store (they may be able to order something), the manufacturer themselves or one of the water cooling sites out there like that one I said earlier (frozencpu). Email them and see if they have something or can order it. It's a shame you cant just leave a hose on the end coming from the pump and then just get a standard angle barb to fit after that :(

I've found a double ended 90 degree barbed compression fitting at last. So what i'm going to do is connect a 3cm piece of tube to the standard fitting on the pump as in pic in previous message, then attach the 90 degree fitting to the other end and finally a 40cm piece of tube to the rad and thus complete the system.

It's an awkward way around what in theory is a simple job but I believe I can get this to work even with only 12cm clearance of which 8cm in the res/pump alone :finga:
