Drop ATA but keep the floppy header? I knew Intel was trying to kill off ATA headers but why on earth keep a floppy? The past 4 motherboards I've owned were all able to flash the BIOS from Windows. If they are getting rid of legacy products get rid of the parallel port. Get rid of the mouse PS/2 port. And please for the love of all that's holy get rid of serial ports. I could always use more USB ports and the serial and parallel ports are taking up USB port room.

When if ever is ECS going to make a BIOS that doesn't suck? I own an ECS board and it's powering my HTPC. The board is flaky and if it wasn't free with a CPU purchase I wouldn't be using it. If you are in the budget category it seems that ASRock is the way to go.

Last PC I built for the shop here at work I had to add serial ports to it. There is still a use for them, floppies and PS/2 ports not so much.

what were the serial ports being used for? Data Logging?

passing CNC program files back and forth from a sever to a CNC machine controller like in this pic



The machine I use for labor tracking has 2 port opto22 card in it, RS485 instead of RS232.
