Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P Motherboard Review - AMD 770

Gigabyte gives us a look at another AMD socket AM3 based motherboard, the GA-MA770T-UD3P. This time, we get to see how the AMD770 chipset with the SB710 southbridge stack up against 790FX and 790GX motherboards. Will the AMD 770 powered board be able to hang at all? That is what we intend to find out!

The GA-MA770T-UD3P uses Gigabyte's famed Ultra Durable 3 technology on this budget friendly AMD socket AM3 platform. This technology brings 2 oz copper PCB and further helps to reduce the system temperature and dramatically enhance the performance. Based on AMD 770 chipset, the GA-MA770T-UD3P supports all the 45nm AMD AM3 Phenom II series processors that feature DDR3 memory controllers and HyperTransport 3.0 technology. Wow nice little bare bones board! Good to see the overclocking is good in this little guy. Any chance in you guys doing some extreme cooling on this to see just how far it will go?

Pretty sweet review! Thanks, i actual use cheap motherboards, because one they are cheap and im cheap so we go hand in had. But i find they serve my purpose and do it rather well.

Right now I am running Windows 7, at 3.6 GHz on 3 cores or 3.4 Ghz on 4th core unlocked, CPU voltage at 1.44. Might be able to push this further, but running very stable at that, so probably stay sane on those CPU speeds (temps well in hand 33 C as I write this), and see how much voltage trimming can be done. (Except with 4th core for some reason get browser crashes, while all other software has run stable) Memory is currently at 1333 with 6-6-6-24 1T timing, at 1.8 voltage. Might be able to trim voltage lower with some experimentation. CPU-NB at 2617 MHz with +.2 bump to CPU-NB VID voltage. I'd like to try to get to 5-5-5-24, but not gotten that to work yet.

To call this a budget or barebones MB is true only in terms of price. Has everything I need or want, overclocks easily into a screamer, and made my x3 into an x4. The preponderance of people never use multi-GPU setups, I won't, so this is exactly what I wanted. Let me put the money I saved into a better overall system

A quick update, things were so stable at 3.6 GHz, I decided to experiment a tad more on bumping the CPU up without any further voltage hikes. The ceiling for complete stability for my system seems to be 3.8 GHz. A nice little gain, with only 1C increase in CPU temperature at full load. I'm impressed. I'm fairly certain if i were willing to run 1.5 on CPU voltage I could wring out more, but this seems like a good result to stay at.
