Mushkin DDR3-1600 7-9-7-24 Blackline Memory Review

If however you are like me and enjoy overclocking every bit of kit you can ever lay your grubby paws on then the Mushkin kit is definitely a good buy. I don't often get to play with mid-range memory kits, in fact it has been a while since my boards have seen under DDR3-2000C7, but I was impressed by these Mushkin Blackline modules. It was especially a lot of fun when I loosened up tRCD and the kit really began to scale, each notch up was a blast and I enjoyed the sensation of exploring what I felt was uncharted territory. Lately it has felt like all I do when overclocking is plug in pre-tested values for memory speeds and timings, this was a breath of fresh air for me.

Nice to see these things can OC well. Any chance of you getting a 6GB kit to test out on a 1366 system?

If Mushkin wants to send another kit out I'd put it through the gauntlet. I've forgotten how much fun mid-range products can be, had a blast with this kit

Well, let them know a possible sale is on the line...

I just did some research and the RAM they use for their 6 GB kit is the exact same RAM as this. I just ordered some for my upcoming PC build. I will try and post some OC results when I can.

Great, let me know how it goes. Fun kit on P55, I imagine it'll be equally fun on X58

I'm at the point now where I'm just trying to figure out which motherboard to get. I'm trying to choose between the following:
Gigabyte GA-x58A-UD7
Gigabyte GA-x58A-UD5
Gigabyte GA-x58A-UD3R

I want to hit the 4.0 GHz zone and from what I hear they all will make it...

yeah don't think you can go wrong with any of them... just need to find the one that has the features you need.

UD3R is really looking attractive at the moment... Don't NEED dual Ethernet and the price differences going up the spectrum is $80 for the UD5 and then another $60 to get the UD7. That $140 would make a nice upgrade from getting a 5850 to a 5870.

Not sure how I would go about the cooling though. Was thinking about going H20 but I just don't know if the price of H20 gear is going to be really worth it in the OC and silence aspect of it. Decisions, decisions...

Is it just me or does it look like (on the UD5 and UD3R) that the NB and the other heatsink with the blue plate on top of them would cool better without the blue plate on top of them? Kind of looks like they would restrict the amount of potential airflow into them and thus the cooling…
