Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate USB 3.0 Flash Drive Review

Kingston's DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 (DTU30) features the latest technology for USB Flash drives, making it ideal for early adopters who want to take advantage of all the performance improvements offered by USB 3.0 right away. We push the try as hard as we could using synthetic benchmarks and then transferred some files to see how it performs in real world testing against several other USB devices that you might have heard of before.

The Kingston DataTraveler Ultimate 3.0 64GB Flash drive is certainly the fastest USB Flash drive that we have ever seen Kingston bring to the market. The move to SuperSpeed USB 3.0 is certainly a welcomed addition to the market and we are very happy to see Kingston enter the USB 3.0 market for the very first time. As more companies enter the USB 3.0 market space it is only to increase competition and that, in turn, drives innovation up and usually pricing down. We hope this will be just the first of many more USB 3.0 products that we see from Kingston this year...

Man that's expensive. Can't wait until Intel gets off their high horse and adopts USB 3.0. Then we might see this stuff become more readily available and in the affordable range. For the time being I'd rather carry around a SSD in a portable hard drive enclosure, assuming I could afford either at this time.

Side note/question/comment: I'm digging that Y-cable. I think if I had that hooked up to my USB ethernet adapter then I wouldn't have most of the problems I have with it. Any idea where I can locate one of those? I looked on monoprice and didn't see anything that fit the bill.

Me too. I'm impressed that they are including it as part of the package. The status quo lately among some companies has been to release items that once you get them home you find out that you need another bit of hardware available separately to give it full functionality. Kingston has headed those technical difficulties off at the pass by including the Y-cable. Bravo!
