NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 Video Card Review

The new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 1280MB graphics card looks very similar to the GeForce GTX 480, but comes with a much lower price tag and faster clock speeds. Read on to see how the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 does against nearly twenty other video cards when we put it to the test on 11 benchmark applications! This might just be a card to pick up for yourself this holiday!

When the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 graphics card went to store shelves back in April 2010 it had an MSRP of $499 and while it was fast it was criticized for being too hot and power hungry. Here we are eight months later we see the GeForce GTX 480 becoming discontinued and eradicated by the GeForce GTX 570. The GeForce GTX 570 costs 30% less at $349.99 and offers an improved cooling solution and performance that is right around the same as the GeForce GTX 480. Obviously, the GeForce GTX 570 is the better video card as the price is lower, the card runs cooler and the performance is not significantly different. Compared to a GeForce GTX 470 the new GeForce GTX 570 blows that card out of the water as we saw a number of benchmarks where the GTX 570 was more than 30% faster. With a price point and performance at this level the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 should be able to do battle with the AMD Radeon HD 6950 and 6970 when those 'Cayman' GPUs are released by AMD next week...

Interesting news about the changes to the vapor change heatsink. I wasn't expecting the 570 to unlock to a 580 but that would have been nice! Great review and thanks for the info!

Nvidia really turned things around since the 460. They cut that insane power usage back down to earth and gave a great performance/price ratio. I hope this pushes AMD to aggressively price their new 6900 parts.

Kinda confirms that the 400 series was a band-aid and the 500 series is the real thing.
Now all I godda do is start saving my money (again) and hope the game designers continue to make games for pc's. :(
Thank you for the great review. :)
