St Louis LAN Party Raises $2k for Charity

When most people think of LAN parties they think of gaming with friends or paying to play games. Recently a St. Louis LAN party was able to something a bit different. They raised over $2100 for katrina victims by hosting a chairty LAN. Read on and see how this small group of gamers was able to make a difference.

Laclede's LAN events in the past have not been for charity, but this event came at just the right time. "We saw an opportunity with the Katrina disaster to help people with the resources we have. Gamers are usually portrayed as an antisocial branch of society, uninterested in anything outside of the virtual worlds they enjoy. Recently, they've even been branded as budding criminals because of the controversy surrounding people who go out and kill someone and then say a game made them do it.

YEAH, definately! Nice work. Those large-scale LAN parties really look like fun! :drinkers:
Especially when all of the proceeds go to a charitable fund. Very honorable of those guys to take the time and effort to do that!

BTW, check out the last pic in the article. Look at the computer in the background. It definately has the side panel off with a little household desk fan blowing in!!! :lol:

I know a couple guys here in stl that do that at lans, but the case in the pic doesn't look familar.

hehe yeah :) that's what we said whenever we saw the setup. i laughed pretty hard. too bad the guy didn't win one of the sweet door prizes we gave away (a brand new xg case). he could have really used it.
