Patriot Pyro 120GB SandForce SF-2281 SSD Review

Patriot has ramped up their SSD product lines with their WildFire and Pyro lines that each sport the SandForce SF-2281 controllers. We haven't had a chance to get our hands on the Wildfire but the Pyro has arrived for our evaluation. Specifications of 550MB/s max reads and 515MB/s max writes for the Pyro seem to put it right in line with its competitors but will that hold true across the full spectrum of benchmarks?

I'll take 6. You need my address?

This is what sucks about picking up an SSD. With the technology moving so fast that brand new drive is already old news. Reminds me of when ATi and nVidia were on 6 month product refreshes.

Right now, it's more of ODM/OEM's filling up their line-ups.

With the Sandforce guy's it's using different versions of the SF-2281 controller.

The SD-2281 processor remains the same. The differences here are just in the firmware customizations that Sandforce does for customers and of course differences in the MLC NAND Flash brand and PCB. I'm shocked there is that big of a difference on the NAND and firmware to be honest.
