Spire Coolgate 2011 CPU Cooler Review

The Spire CoolGate 2011 universal CPU cooler is a towering direct contact heat-pipe solution based on the gate-duct airflow principle. The base has 4 direct touch heat-pipes that make direct contact with the CPU for better heat dissipation. This was my first hands on experience with a Spire product, and I can comfortably say that this little cooler definitely surprised me. I’m really not sure what was more surprising though, the fact that the install took just about three minutes to complete, or that for such a small cooler it was able to keep up with one of the larger coolers that I’ve tested.

Impressive considering the price vs performance is right in my wheelhouse. I'll keep an eye on this one, looks like it would fit in most mATX cases. I wonder if they'll put something similar in a low-profile form factor that would fit in my HTPC Microfly Cube case, the near silent operation would make it perfect for that.

I think i know who is the OEM for this Heatsink ... Deepcool, i bought them before i have the Iceedge Mini FS (80mm!) and it JUST fits in a Mini-ATX case, yes you can put a 92mm version of the Mini FS (Mini)
But you will have to say goodbye to having a fan in the back.
Right, if you can review the heatsink i can thank you alot, it dropped a whopping 20C (Comes with some silicon paste on the back of the heatsink, i don't really trust that one) without removing the stock paste
Yes i did clean the CPU so yeah, i relied on the built-in paste
20C with a fan way more silent (than already silent stock cooler...) and of course being a cheap fan only pushes 28CFM (these aren't the most silent ones though, i'll see when i get a AVC PWM8025)
OH yes, it's a E5700. Stock temps were 62C loaded with some pretty good 6.49USD silver paste
Got to say ... this thing is taller than expected but better than expected but still it almost bumped into the fan on the side of the case making closing back the case a little hard
And the best parts? I didn't pay much more than the sliver paste...
It was only 10USD ... holy cow it's extremely cheap in china
It was a pain in the butt to install on my G41D3C (Mind you i am only using this PC as a media server, not for anything else!) because if i wanted it to face my fan i couldn't clip it on since the northbridge was blocking me .. yeah PITA, so i had to remove the case fan and then install it later, at least the coolgate faces the other side which makes it possible to fit in a MATX but the sheer height of the Coolgate is not going to fit in a MATX case.
But yeah they have a lot of models so check it out
