The price of this kit makes me feel old. I didn't get into computers as early as most of you here but I do remember buying a 512MB stick of Corsair XMS DDR 400 RAM back in the day for around the $150 mark. Keep the RAM wars alive! I wonder if the reduced RAM pricing has anything to do with the fact that everything in our lives how seems to have some form of RAM in it (computers, phones, TVs, Blu-Ray players, car radio, etc...)?

The biggest battle was Corsair versus OCZ on the high-end and as you know OCZ exited that business.

Then companies starting using PCB's are based off JEDEC designs and that there are there are just a few types of IC's being used at any given time.

To make matter worse all memory has lifetime warranties.

At the end of the day buying memory usually comes down to price and appearance. Back in 2002-2006 it wasn't like that as there was a wider variety of PCB's, IC's and so on.

Quick question/thought. Since Llano seems to really show the benefits of faster RAM have you thought of switching from an Intel testbed to AMD?

Yeah, that would be nice.
APUs are becoming very relevant for many users and obviously RAM performance impacts them way more than systems with discrete graphics (for which the effect of RAM B/W is non-existant).
