The successor to the Intel SSD DC P4500 series, the Intel SSD DC P4510 series, was first released to Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) in August 2017 and is now widely available. Intel updated this enterprise drive series by using the latest 64-layer 3D TLC NAND Flash memory and optimized the firmware for the controller to work in unison with the changes. So it would only cost me $25,000 (give or take a few dollars for tax, etc) to replace my 8TB WD Red drives in my NAS with these. :shock:

It would be REALLY fast though....and cool......hmmm, let me run this by the wife.....

She gave me the "look" so I take that as a maybe :mrgreen:

For massive data centers I can see it just for the sheer speed of these puppies and operating temps gotta be so much lower than physical hard drives. Still a lot of money.
