Intel SSD 660p 1TB SSD Review With QLC NAND Flash

Post by Apoptosis »

Today we will be looking at the world’s first consumer SSD to feature QLC (Quad Level Cell) NAND Flash. QLC NAND Flash once seemed so far away, but Intel is rolling out the SSD 660p drive series today. The Intel SSD 660p features an SMI controller with Intel firmware optimizations and 3D 64-layer QLC NAND Flash memory.

Intel just impressed me. Now lets see if pricing drops on other drives to compete!

I don't think other drives will drop in price much because EVERYONE is going to be releasing QLC drives.

QLC drives will be good for mainstream drives, but they are not for power users or enthusiasts just yet.

96-layer QLC NAND is coming here shortly and that is where QLC will really take off I think. This first wave of products is good, but the second will be even better.
