New Video Card Test Suite

Post by Illuminati »

Hey all,

Nate has me thinking about our video card tests we will use on our upcoming video card reviews. We are planning on sticking to pretty much all real-Game tests. Here is what we have so far:

1. 3dMark2003
2. AquaMark3

3. UT2003
4. RTCW
5. Max Payne 2
6. Halo
7. Tomb Raider: AOD
8. Call of Duty

As of now, I plan on using the following for Image quality tests:

1. Max Payne 2
2. Halo
3. Call of Duty
4. 3dMark2003

Please give your thoughts on what I have so far, and what else you would like to see. Thanks!

We consider AquaMark to be "just another synthentic test". We plan on keeping the two 3dMark's for now because so many people use them and it is an easy way for our readers to test their own systems for comparison.

Basically, we just don't have the confidence that AquaMark gives truely meaningful results. Do you agree or disagree? Thanks!

Well, Aquamark, is a less synthetic benchmark than both 3Dmarks. IMO, really should be in any graphics card review, and Aquamark is rapidly gaining popularity and notice.

Based on what I can gather, it will give you more meaningful results than either 3Dmark....

Thanks for the input guys... I think Nate and I decided to drop 3dMark2001SE and add AquaMark3. Sound good?

The updated test suite should be alright.

Aquamark is not as synthetic as 3DMark. We are still using 3DMark because of it's popularity.
3DMark2001 is alright for benchmarking purposes but 2003 is filled with disputes(don't no who to blame, nVidia or 3DMark). So I'll say just do it but don't rely on it to give us conclusions.

I know you guys @ Legit Reviews won't do that, your conclusions will base on the whole test suite, right?

Keep up the reviewing...
