Daily Water Intake?

Post by DJ Tucker »

I have been searching about daily water intake and as you proberbly already know, you should drink around 4 pints a day. well, some people hate water, like me, and thats mainly becuase of it having no taste. i have stopped drinking so much water since i turnt 16 so instead of drinking 4-5 glasses of water or diluted juice/squash per day i now probs drink about that much in fizzy drinks. and my water intake in now reduced from 2-2.5 pints per day to 500ml per day and i have no side affects of the water decrease for 5 years now.

however after the research not having these side affects although is good meaning my body must some be getting water from something else i have but i will later in life no doubt having all kinds of problems such as kidney stones or dry/wrinkled skin and big bags undereyes stuff like this will be more noticeable at an early age.

At my worst I was doing 2L of soda a day a work and ~1L of water/tea/kool-aid at night. Round about 2 gal of milk a week for breakfast.

After my 2nd round of kidney stones I cut back on the soda and the milk.

Doc told me that for every bit of something you drink you should have close to the same amount of water to flush the kidneys. Basically if you take a leak and its not clear (or close to it) your not getting enough water.

i drink nothing but water now, except orange soda if i need caffeine, get 16oz at a time(unless i get two glasses at a time) and fill it up about as fast as i can drink it, still get dehydrated and have bad headaches if i dont drink a glass RIGHT before bed and when i wake up

its dependant on the overall diet, but soda is useless to me at this point, doesnt cure thirst, just makes you more thirsty(vicious cycle)

and fyi this is a 19 year old 8-[

Soda/pop has so much junk in it that kidney stones would be the least of the health issues after years of abuse.

Water and sweet tea tend to be my only two liquid beverages. Daily, it's 64 to 96 ounces consumed. The DW does a gallon typically. We mostly drink no fluoride water. Neither of us have problems with our teeth either.

I gave up soda about 4 years ago, but I still drink juice. I can't afford the 100% juices, so I guess I might as well be drinking soda.

Throughout the work day I drink from my 32oz bottle that I freeze every night. I find it much easier to drink water if it is as cold as possible.

I guess that my drinking a pot or two of coffee in the morning and beers at night will catch up to me sooner or later, but for now I drink water at work and maybe after a hangover.

Not everyone needs 4 pints of water a day. It really depends on the person and their current drinking habits. If someone is accustomed to drinking water and other non-caffeinated beverages then yes caffeine will dehydrate you. But if your body is accustomed to drinking caffeine daily then it will have less of an effect on you. I learned this first hand. When I was a mid teen I drank nothing but soda, milk, and juice. I was always as hydrated as I am now and I drink about 6-8 glasses of water a day. One month I had quit drinking so much water and kinda slacked on fluids all together. I am still recovering from that phase. [(Graphic description follows) My urine was the color of a rotting orange for a while.]

It all depends on the person. You can continue to drink what you will and as long as you don't have discoloration in your excrements your good.

You might benefit by getting a juicer if you can't afford the 100% juices. :drinkers:

Aldi's tends to have oranges, apples, grapes, kiwi and other fruits at a really great price. Most if not nearly all of their produce is grown and packaged in the USA. We find this to be the best value for the nutrition and the dollar budget for groceries.

After you finish juicing, take the pulp and compost it for the garden.

I might as well just buy the 100% juice. I hate having to clean the blender every time I use it, and prepairing fruit isn't as easy as pouring from a jug.

We have used it as a Juicer in the past, but I think it is a big hassle, even though the juice tastes so much better that way.

The only time i really try and drink soda/pop is in my mix cocktails. Crown and coke, jack and coke. On a rare occasion i will have a doctor pepper since it the only thing really in the coke machine here at work when i need an extra little umph to get me through the day. When you said fizzy it was making me think of:

I totally agree. I drink usually about 5 ounces of coffee in the morning and then switch to water. (we have a new coffee machine at work called a Keurig. its pretty cool) I have my ~32 ounce jug that i fill up and try to drink durring the day work. I put two handfulls of ice in it before the water - i love it cold!! I will have a soda with lunch 1-2 times a week. I dont really regulate my drinking habbits, just mostly what i feel like drinking.

If you freeze it into a solid block at night, it will stay cold all day without having to add more ice. Let it melt a bit while you are drinking your coffee and you are good to go.

Hah, I drink about a 1/2 Litre of Milk a day, about 250Ml of water and about 300Ml of Soda. I recommend sticking to about 1 Can a day of soda, if possible because it does nasty stuff to your body, like leaching the calcium from your bones (ick.) Juice is generally cheaper, but water is the cheapest and also the best for you. Maybe i should take my own advice :S
