VGA to DVD Player!

Post by DJ Tucker »

I want to get my old dvd player to work with my old 17" LCD monitor without spending a fortune. I know a straight forward vga to scart or rca cable won't do it due to interlacing. So, I need to get a convertor but have no idea what convertor I would need to get my dvd player to output audio and video. anyone have any idea here?

Sounds like you need an old VGA Video Converter they used for game consoles...

something like this

I take it the only connection on your lcd is a VGA? If so then Bubba has you covered. Just remember you will probably have to hook audio up separate as VGA does not include audio signals.

Use the best connection you can! HDMI is of course first, then component, then s-video and finally composite.

My suggestion would be to save the money for the convertor to go to vga and look around for a dirt cheap 17-19" monitor with hdmi. For that small of a monitor and with only using it for regular dvd, you would not even need 720p resolution but most I think will have at least that.
Remember, I am opinionated and nothing I say or do reflects on anyone or anything else but me :finga:

well that's exactly what I needed. got a convertor today and all works perfectly. the res goes up to 1280x1024 which is my res for that 17". the quality isn't as good as my pc of course but certainly fine for watching dvds in bed with the misses as she likes to fall asleep to them :)
