Urgent Inner Tube Help!

So I went to Halfords and asked for the voodoo hoodoo inner tube size and got told in was 27.5". so naturally I got the 27.5" tube to get home and find that my voodoo hoodoo is the older 26". however Halfords is closed and I have work tomorrow. so I need a very quick emergency answer can I use a 27.5" inner tube on my 26" tyre without any damage as I need to repair my bike asap?
