AMD OFFERS GREATER CHOICE FOR ENERGY EFFICIENCY

New 45 watt desktop energy-efficient processors further AMD commitment to enable differentiated solutions and develop lower wattage parts
WHAT:
Today, AMD (NYSE: AMD) introduced several new energy-efficient desktop processors designed to reduce power consumption for greater performance-per-watt. These processors will offer additional choice for system builders and OEMs looking to differentiate their products and provide customers with low-noise, low-heat system designs.

Enhancements to the AMD Athlon™ X2 dual-core processor improve multi-tasking performance for energy-efficient systems. Additionally, a variety of AMD Athlon and AMD Sempron™ single-core processors give energy conscious customers multiple performance and price points to meet the diverse needs of consumers.

WHY:
The newest AMD energy-efficient processors are conducive to developing smaller and sleeker form factors. Delivering high performance and quiet operation, these processors are ideal for the office, classroom, or living room.

Energy-efficient processors from AMD can help reduce the amount of energy PCs consume, thereby decreasing associated cooling requirements and the overall cost of its operation.

The performance of AMD energy-efficient processors should be equal to that of comparably configured solutions, but with reduced power consumption.

AMD expects these energy-efficient processors will power a great computing experience that can meet, and in many instances exceed, the new system requirements from the EPA’s ENERGY STAR Version 4 computer specification.

WHO BENEFITS:
Benefiting both consumers and businesses, energy-efficient AMD processors enable system designs that are capable of reduced noise and heat emissions with extended longevity, for a quieter and more pleasant computing experience in offices and homes.

ENERGY- EFFICIENT PROCESSORS:

· AMD Athlon™ X2 BE-2400 (2.3GHz/45W) priced at $104
· AMD Athlon™ LE-1620 (2.4GHz/45W) priced at $53

Yeah exactly, it's not fast, but with something like you can build a really cheap basic computer.
