Fremont, Calif. - October 13, 2008 - Antec, Inc., the leading global brand
of high-performance computer components for the PC upgrade and
Do-It-Yourself markets, has launched the Skeleton, the first open air
enclosure to the consumer market. The Skeleton's open structure design and
flexibility bring a high level of cooling, ease-of-use and stylish
appearance to any PC.

Customizable and offering unprecedented levels of cooling, the Skeleton
features an open frame and a top mounted, three-speed, 250mm TriCool
multi-color LED fan, allowing users to adjust fan speed, as well as case
illumination. Specially designed layered trays allow for efficient cable
routing that prevents wires from impeding airflow and an additional
dedicated 92mm fan cools the hard drives. With a 0.8mm cold rolled
steel-reinforced plastic frame and rackmount quality side rails, this
enclosure emphasizes durability. The 13''(H) x 14.8''(W) x 16.5''(D) sized
enclosure fits Mini ITX, MicroATX and Standard ATX motherboards.
For enhanced flexibility in system integration, the enclosure boasts a
layered tray design and four quick release drive bays, including two 5.25''
and two 3.5'' bays as well as four optional 3.5'' side panel-mounting
plates. Seven expansion slots contain room for up to three 11'' video cards
in SLI configuration, enabling gamers and high-performance enthusiasts to
get the most from their high end machines. Convenient front mounted USB 2.0,
FireWire and eSATA ports allow for easy multimedia connections.
Additionally, there are Audio I/O ports in the front, compatible with AC97'
and HDA.

"PC gamers and build your own enthusiasts are always looking for the latest
high-performance components, including high usability and unique designs,"
said Scott Richards, senior vice president for Antec. "The Skeleton is the
latest example of the commitment we have to offer usable, affordable
products that perfectly balance functionality with a unique and bold
appearance. The cooling capacities and top-notch convenience features will
help PC users to build a very special system. We're excited to be the first
company to launch an open air PC case."

The Skeleton is available now through major retailers, e-tailers and
distributors. The case will retail for approximately $189.95 and is backed
by Antec's Quality 3-Year Warranty. For additional product information and

Meh.... Looks to limiting to me, but then again with only one pic of it one really cant tell. Main concern would be cpu cooler compatibility and that it wouldn't be a good idea to have sitting on the floor which means that you would need more desk space. ](*,)

Been interested in this since it was announced. Anyone know if it's hit the stores yet? Seems like it would work really nicely as a test bench. Looking forward to the mini-ITX version, too.

Edit:
Just checked Newegg and they have it.
