Samsung Exynos 5 Dual Powers the New Google Chromebook

The Exynos 5 Dual is the first ARM technology-based SoC to bring both high performance and energy efficiency to Chromebooks

Seoul, Korea on Nov. 21. 2012 Samsung a world leader in advanced semiconductor solutions, announced that its Exynos 5 Dual application processor powers the new Google Chromebook*. Exynos 5 Dual is the industry's first ARM® Cortex™-A15 CPUs and ARM Mali™-T604 GPUs, enabling increased performance with more power-efficient designs for mobile devices.

"We are excited to have the Exynos 5 Dual equipped in Google's newest Chromebook that will offer optimum user experience within the mobile environment," said TH Kim, vice president of System LSI marketing, Device Solutions, Samsung Electronics. "The use of the ARM technology-based Exynos application processor for the Chromebook is a milestone for the industry, as it shows broader application possibilities with stepped up application processor performance."

The Exynos 5 Dual, with two CPU cores running at a blazing 1.7GHz, its high-powered multi-core GPU, full high-definition multimedia capabilities, and the highest available memory bandwidth in an mobile SoC opens up more opportunities for PC manufacturers. The adoption of 32nm High-K Metal Gate (HKMG) process technology, complemented with Samsung's unique low-power design methodology, allows for high performance as well as superior power efficiency for the next generation Chromebook and other mobile devices.
